Anniversary of the Guanabacoa Church
THE BREAD OF ETERNAL LIFE
JOHN 6:50-59
“I am the living
bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live
forever…”
John 6:51
Communion
is the greatest of the Sacraments, because it is the sacrifice of the new alliance
that replaces the ancient sacrifice of animals, in which Christ offers himself
for us. To offer oneself up entirely, to
give one’s life, is the supreme act of love.
This is why communion is a great act of God’s love, because it is the
continuation, the actualization for us of the offer of himself that Christ made
on the cross. At the same time, it is a
great act of fraternal love, in which we are all united to Christ as we all eat
of the same bread. Thus communion is the center of all Christian life and
through it Christ’s sacrifice marks a course in our lives.
Each time that we take
communion, let us do a reanalysis of our lives and of our participation in the
Church. Let us renew our vows of faithfulness and draw nearer to Christ and to
all of our brothers and sisters with love.
Prayer: We pray, Lord, for our
participation in the Church and for our behavior towards others. Amen.

EL PAN QUE DA VIDA ETERNA
JUAN 6:50-59
“Yo soy el pan vivo que descendió del cielo;
si alguno comiere de este pan vivirá para
siempre…”

La Comunión es el más grande de los Sacramentos,
porque es a la vez el sacrificio de la nueva alianza que sustituye a los
antiguos sacrificio de los animales, en el que Cristo mismo se ofrece por
nosotros. Entregarse, dar la vida, es el acto supremo de amor. Por eso, la
comunión es el gran acto del amor de Dios, porque es la continuación, la
actualización para nosotros de la entrega que de sí mismo hizo Cristo en la
cruz. A la vez es el gran acto del amor
fraterno, en el que todos nos unimos a Cristo y comemos de un mismo pan. Así la
Comunión es el centro de toda la vida cristiana y en ella el sacrificio de
Cristo marca una ruta a nuestra vida.
Cada vez
que comulguemos, rehagamos un análisis de nuestras vidas y de nuestra
participación en la Iglesia. Renovemos nuestros votos de fidelidad y
acerquémonos a Cristo y a todos los hermanos con amor.
Oración: Te
pedimos Señor, por nuestra participación en la Iglesia y por nuestra conducta
hacia los demás. Amén.
