LET US BE WORTHY OF JESUS
LUKE 7:1-10
“...Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to
have you come under my roof.”
Luke 7:6
On a certain occasion, our church was putting on a
traditional activity for which we needed to solicit a variety of donated
objects. I have a friend who does not belong to our congregation, but who for
many years has generously supported us. So I decided to visit her and to ask
for her help. However, I didn’t know how to reach out to her, because I
recalled that one of her family members had died and I had not been there for
her at the time. She had also been sick and I had not shown any interest in her
health, and her birthday had come and gone without my good wishes. Therefore I felt
that I did not deserve to receive any kind of attention from my friend.
The same
thing has happened to many people. The prodigal
son acknowledged that he was not worthy to be called son, and that centurion who loved the nation of Israel and had even
built a synagogue, also did not feel worthy of a visit from Jesus.
If we
ask ourselves today to what degree we are worthy of approaching the Lord and
asking him to attend to our needs, it is possible that we would have to
acknowledge how undeserving we are of his great love. Let us therefore commit
our lives to Jesus with such faith that our hearts may be moved and that many
might repeat: “I have not found such
great faith even in Israel.”
Prayer: Lord, we ask today that our lives may be worthy of the love that you have
for us. Amen.
SEAMOS DIGNOS DE JESÚS
LUCAS 7:1-10

de que entres bajo

En cierta ocasión
estábamos realizando una tradicional actividad en nuestra Iglesia y era preciso
solicitar la donación de diversos objetos. Tengo una amiga que no pertenece a
nuestra congregación, pero que todos los años hace un aporte generoso. Así que
pensé en visitarla y pedir su ayuda. Sin embrago, no sabía cómo llegar a ella,
pues recordé que había fallecido un
familiar suyo y yo no la acompañé en ese momento. También había estado enferma
y no me había interesado por su salud, y había llegado su cumpleaños, pero no
llegó mi felicitación. Así que sentí que no era merecedora de ningún tipo de
atención por parte de mi amiga. A muchas personas les ha sucedido igual. El
hijo pródigo reconoció que no era digno de ser llamado hijo, y aquel
centurión que amaba la nación y hasta había construido una sinagoga, tampoco se
sintió digno de que Jesús le visitara.
Si hoy nosotros nos preguntamos hasta qué punto somos dignos de acercarnos
al Señor y pedirle que atienda nuestras necesidades, es posible que tengamos que reconocer cuán poco
merecedores somos de su gran amor. Entreguemos pues nuestras vidas a Jesús con
una fe tal que se conmueva nuestro corazón y muchos puedan repetir: “Ni aún
en Israel he hallado tanta fe”
Oración: Señor, pedimos hoy que nuestras vidas sean dignas del amor que tienes para nosotros . Amén.
