MONDAY, APRIL 21
EVEN THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF
THE SHADOW OF DEATH
MARK 4:35-41
“A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the
boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a
cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we
drown?’”
Mark 4:37-38
There are times in a believer’s life when it seems that we are at
the heights of our faith experience.
Jesus is near; we feel his presence at our side. This is when we are
willing to give much of ourselves for the Kingdom of God, in obedience and with
love. We commit to working projects alongside the sisters and brothers in our congregation.
However, after a while, from the heights we tumble to the valley,
and at times we fall to the bottom. That is when, in spite of our faith,
serious problems arise. They can be related to our health, or to our finances,
or to our family; or to various other issues and concerns. There will be
anguish, pain, and suffering; there will be fear, doubt, and disorientation. “Where are
you, Lord? Don’t you care if we are
dying?”
It is good to know that in those moments God is most faithful to
the human being who abides in Him. What a great promise!
Prayer: God of
power, help us so that our faith will never falter. In the name of Christ
who conquered death. Amen.
AUNQUE ANDE EN
VALLE DE SOMBRA
MARCOS 4:35-41
“En esto se desató una tormenta,
con un viento tan fuerte que las olas caían sobre la barca, de modo que se
llenaba de agua. Pero Jesús se había dormido en la parte de atrás, apoyado
sobre una almohada. Lo despertaron y dijeron: ¡Maestro! ¿No te importa que nos
estemos hundiendo?”
Marcos 4:37-38
A veces
un creyente está como en la cima en sus experiencias de fe. Jesús está cerca,
lo siente a su lado. Es cuando se está dispuesto a dar mucho por el Reino de
Dios, en obediencia y con amor. Se compromete en proyectos junto a las hermanas
y los hermanos de la congregación.
Pero, de a ratos, de la cima se
desliza al valle, y a veces cae al
precipicio. Es cuando, a pesar de la fe, surgen problemas serios. Pueden ser de
salud, o económicos, o familiares; o varios relacionados entre sí. Habrá
angustia, dolor y sufrimiento; habrá miedo, duda y desorientación. “¿Dónde
estás Señor? ¿No te importa que estemos sucumbiendo?”
Es bueno saber que Dios en esos
momentos es más fiel con el ser humano que éste con Él. ¡Qué gran promesa!
Oración: Dios de
poder, ayúdanos para que nuestra fe nunca flaquee. En el nombre de Cristo que
venció la muerte. Amén.
