Anniversary of the IPR Church San Nicolás de Bari
THE AGE OF WISDOM
MATTHEW 5:13-16
“Jesus said: ‘So in everything, do to
others what you would have them do to you…”
Matthew 7:12
Many people think that the elderly always receive more than they
give. But they are often the ones who
give more of themselves, in spite of their limited resources and energy: the affection with which the elderly share
their time and wisdom with their grandchildren; the sacrifices they make to
ensure that their family receives its daily bread…
At the entrance of the home for the elderly where I live there is a
sign that says: “Good care is our best task.” My husband and I have reconfirmed
this. One of the residents always brought joy and consideration to all. He
planted a garden next to the building and tended it as long as his strength
permitted. Looking after the wellbeing
of others is a Christian’s foundation. If we ask God, he will bless our
efforts.
Prayer: Beloved God, give us the wisdom to be able to guide others to follow your
teachings in our old age. We ask for your blessings upon the most elderly in
our families, those who are sick or alone.
Give them peace and joy. Through Jesus Christ,
Amen.

LA EDAD DE LA SABIDURÍA
MATEO 5:13-16

que los hombres hagan con
vosotros,
así también haced vosotros con
ellos”

Muchos piensan que los ancianos
siempre reciben más de lo que dan. Pero muy a menudo son ellos los que dan más
de sí, a pesar de su limitación de
recursos y energías: el cariño con el que los ancianos comparten su tiempo y
sabiduría con sus nietos, los sacrificios para que no falte el pan cotidiano a
la familia… A la entrada del hogar para ancianos donde vivo hay un rótulo que
dice: “El buen cuidado es nuestra mejor tarea”. Mi esposo y yo lo hemos
confirmado. Uno de los residentes siempre brindó alegría y consideración a
todos. Sembró un jardín al lado del edificio y lo cuidó mientras sus fuerzas lo
permitieron. Ver por el bienestar de otros es el fundamento del cristiano. Si
lo pedimos a Dios, Él bendecirá nuestros esfuerzos.
Oración: Dios amado, danos
sabiduría para que en nuestra vejez podamos guiar a otros a seguir tus
enseñanzas. Pedimos tus bendiciones para los más ancianos de nuestra familia,
los que están enfermos, o solos. Dale paz y gozo. Por Jesucristo, amén.
