GIFTS FOR ALL

JOHN 3:22-28

"A man can receive only what is given him from heaven".

 John 3:27

A few years ago I had the privilege to watch a young deaf man who was teaching a blind and deaf baby girl her first word in sign language. The gift that the young man gave to this baby has been multiplied many times over. As the girl grew and learned, she was able to share with others the meaning of the word she learned:  love. And for me, being a witness to this interaction was a gift which transformed my life. It allowed me to see that the girl was capable of learning and of loving in spite of the difficult physical conditions which would accompany her for the rest of her life.

Many failures facing such a situation had predicted that the little girl would not learn anything, and yet shared love worked the miracle. The incredible power of humanity is that we are all capable of giving. God has given talents to all of us.  Let us share our gifts with love and with the confidence that we can work miracles in the lives of others.

Prayer:  Teach us, Lord, to use our gifts for the good of society. Amen

JUAN  3:22-28

"Nadie puede recibir nada a menos que Dios se lo conceda".

Hace varios años tuve el privilegio de ver a un joven sordo que le enseñaba a una bebé ciega y sorda su primera palabra en lenguaje de señas. El don que el joven le dio a esta bebé se ha multiplicado muchas veces. La niña a medida que fue creciendo y aprendiendo pudo compartir con otros el significado de la palabra que ella aprendió: amor. Y para mí, el ser testigo de este intercambio fue un don que transformó mi vida. Me dejó ver que la niña fue capaz de aprender y de amar a pesar de las difíciles condiciones físicas que la acompañarían el resto de su vida.

Muchos derrotados ante tal situación habían condenado a la pequeña a que no aprendería nada, sin embargo el amor compartido obró el milagro.  El poder increíble de la humanidad es que todos somos capaces de dar. Dios nos ha dado talentos a todos, compartamos nuestros dones con amor y con la seguridad de que podemos obrar milagros en la vida de las personas

Oración: Enséñanos, Señor, a usar nuestros dones en bien de la sociedad. Amén.
