GOD, OUR CENTER
PSALM 115: 4-8
“You shall have no other gods before me.”
Exodus 20:3
Throughout our lives we need to be careful
not to create and venerate idols. It is surprising how many different types of
idols we can have. Our idols can best be
summarized as anything that can take away the time that we should dedicate to
God and anything that leads us away from his teachings. Each of us has our kept
idols. But I invite you to reflect about them in order to remember them and to
decide to get rid of them, to throw them far away.
Idolatry applies in all areas. Even suffering can become an idol. Be careful not to overly idealize a situation
or people in certain situations; beware of placing people that we admire on
pedestals. May Father God, Son and Holy Spirit be our center.
Prayer: Forgive me oh God, for the times in which I have turned away from
your path, following the steps of idols and forgetting that you alone are the
center of our existence.

En el
transcurso de nuestra vida tenemos que cuidarnos de los ídolos que podemos
crear y venerar. Nos sorprendería saber cuántos tipos de ídolos tenemos, pero
mejor sería resumirlo de esta manera: todo lo que me puede quitar el tiempo que
le debo dedicar a Dios y me desvía de sus enseñanzas puede ser un ídolo.
Todos tenemos algunos
ídolos guardados. Solo te invito a reflexionar para que los recordemos y
decidamos sacarlos, echarlos fuera.
La idolatría aplica en todas las áreas. Incluso el
sufrimiento puede ser un ídolo. Cuidado con esto. Cuidado con el
idealizar mucho una situación o a las personas en ciertas situaciones, cuidado
con poner a la gente que admiramos en pedestales. Que Dios Padre, Hijo y
Espíritu Santo sea nuestro centro.
Oración: Perdóname oh Dios, por
las veces en que me he desviado de tu camino, siguiendo los pasos de ídolos y
olvidando que sólo tú eres el centro de nuestra existencia.
