THE GATE AND HIS MESSAGE

JOHN  10:1-10

“I am the gate for the sheep.”

John 10:7

The Lord himself told the incredulous Pharisees:   “I am the gate.”  By that He meant that He is the entrance-way that allows us to pass through the impenetrable wall of malice that separates us from God.  He is the Priest, the Sacrifice and the Altar.  He, through his redemptive work on the cross, made possible the reconciliation between God and humanity.  Through him alone we are made new creatures.

He is the gate, the gate of salvation entirely open, as He invites us: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened” and promises: “He who comes to me will not be rejected”.  

There exists no force that can close it, be it that of a powerful priest or that of a political dictator; no one.  If you break your chains free of evil and place yourself in his hands, you can live confident in the truth expressed by the verses of this hymn:

The hand of God acts in our world

With grace and with power;

The Church should see; the great act

Of the powerful hand of God.  

The gate is open. Aren’t you tired of the burden, of the guilt, of the discouragement, of the useless struggle?

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, grant that your gate of salvation always be open for us. Thank you. Amen.

LA PUERTA Y SU MENSAJE

JUAN  10:1-10

“Yo soy la puerta de las ovejas”

Juan 10:7

El mismo Señor dijo a los fariseos incrédulos: “Yo soy la puerta”. Quería decir que Él es la entrada por la que se puede traspasar la impenetrable muralla del mal que nos separa de Dios. Él es el Sacerdote, Sacrificio y Altar. Él, por su obra redentora en la cruz, hizo posible la reconciliación entre Dios y la humanidad. Solamente por Él podemos ser nuevas criaturas.

Él es la puerta, la puerta de la salvación enteramente abierta, pues Él invita: “Venid a mí todos los que estén trabajados y cargados” y promete: “Al que a mí viene  no le echo fuera”.

No hay fuerza que pueda cerrarla, ya sea la de un potentado eclesiástico o la de un dictador político;  nadie, si tú rompes tus ataduras con el mal y te colocas en sus manos, puedes vivir confiado en la verdad que expresan los versos de este himno:

La mano de Dios en nuestro mundo está

actuando con gracia y con poder;

La Iglesia debe ver, el gran acontecer

de la poderosa mano de Dios.

La puerta está abierta. ¿No estás fatigado de la carga, de la culpa, del desaliento, de la lucha inútil?

Oración: Señor Jesucristo, que tu puerta de salvación esté abierta siempre para nosotros. Gracias. Amén.
