LIFE AND LIGHT
JOHN
1:8-12
“The true light that gives light to every
man was coming into the world.”
John 1:9
The term “Light” appears over 100 times in
the Old Testament and more than 70 in the New Testament, indicating the
importance of its meaning.
Light is one of the great mysteries that we
have yet to solve. We use it, we generate it, we measure it or we simply make
it disappear. But how can one live
without light?
Excessive light does not illuminate, it
blinds. “There is no worse blind person than the one who does not wish to see”
and even more so the one who only sees what he wants to see. John knew this and he affirmed that Jesus was
the light, the life, and the beginning of all that was created. “He
who carries light remains alone.”
Upon introducing Jesus, the writer chose
the term: “Jesus Christ is the Light”. There is no room here for
reasoning or for all-night theological reflection; this is a matter of faith. What
is the light (Jesus Christ) for you? Is Jesus
really the light of your existence? Do you
live in the light of Christ or are you still living in darkness? Think about it and try to respond.
Prayer: Lord, allow us to see your light. Amen.
VIDA Y LUZ

El
término “Luz” aparece más de 100 veces en el Antiguo Testamento y más de 70 en
el Nuevo Testamento, lo cual denota la importancia de su significado.
La luz es uno de
los grandes misterios que todavía enfrentamos. La utilizamos, generamos,
medimos o simplemente la hacemos desaparecer. Pero ¿cómo se puede vivir sin la
luz?
La luz excesiva no
alumbra, ciega. “No hay peor ciego que el que no quiere ver” y mucho más lo es
aquel que sólo ve lo que le conviene. Juan lo sabía y afirma que era la luz, la
vida, el principio de todo lo creado. “Todo el que lleva luz se queda solo”.
Al presentar a
Jesús el escritor escoge el término: “Jesucristo es la Luz”. Aquí no
cabe el razonamiento ni la trasnochada reflexión teológica; esto es materia de
fe. ¿Qué es la luz (Jesucristo ) para
ti? ¿Es realmente Jesús la luz de tu existencia? ¿Vives en la luz de Cristo o
sigues en las tinieblas? Piénsalo y trata de responder.
Oración: Señor, permítenos
ver tu luz. Amén.
