KINGDOM OF PEACE
IsaIAH 11:1-10
“The infant will play near the hole of the
cobra,
And the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest.”
Isaiah 11:8
The idea of seeing Jesus as Prince of Peace comes
to us from the prophet Isaiah. Jesus
comes to transform not only our relationship to God but to give a new vision of
how we can relate to one another.
We are
always proud of that fact that there are very few firearms in the hands of
civilians in our country. When we hear
the news about how many shootings occur within the civilian population in other
countries, with pain but with certain satisfaction, we say: those
things don’t happen here.
The manners
in which people treat one another on the street, even within their families,
are situations as violent as the violence which is unleashed by firearms. Fights, verbal and psychological violence are
as harmful and corrosive to humans as a bullet in the chest. The consequences
can be equally devastating and traumatic.
Prayer: Prince of Peace, this Christmas we yearn for a complete renovation of our
lives, including the transformation of our personal relationships. We want to live in peaceful relationships with
one another, where justice and equality prevail.

La idea de ver a Jesús como Príncipe de Paz, nos ha llegado por el
profeta Isaías. Jesús viene a transformar no solo la relaciones con Dios sino a
dar una mirada nueva a como nos relacionamos los unos con las otras.
Siempre nos enorgullece que en nuestro
país no abundan las armas de fuego en manos de civiles. Cuando
escuchamos las noticias de cómo en otros países ocurren tiroteos entre la
población civil, con dolor pero con cierta satisfacción, decimos: aquí no
pasan esas cosas.
La manera en qué las personas se trata en las calles, aún en las familias,
son situaciones tan violentas como la violencia que se desata con las armas de
fuego. Las peleas, la violencia verbal y psicológica dañan y corroen tanto al
ser humano, como que le entre una bala por el pecho. Las consecuencias también
pueden ser devastadoras y traumáticas.
Oración: Príncipe de Paz, en esta
navidad anhelamos una renovación completa de nuestras vidas que incluya la
transformación en nuestras relaciones personales. Estamos deseosas de vivir
relaciones pacíficas, donde la justicia
y la equidad prevalezcan.
