MORNING PRAYER
JOHN 17:1-26
“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and
they know that you have sent me.”
John 17:25
“Lord, we
wish to speak with you in the morning hours, before the shadows arrive and our
minds are preoccupied with material issues. May your presence unravel the
rudeness of our hearts… The ordinary problems of our lives distress us and
worrying about them exhausts us. But we
know that for you nothing is difficult, and that there no limits to your
knowledge. You are the Teacher and
Master of our lives. Teach us to trust
in your wisdom and in your love today. Show
us your face and everything will be fine.
We praise you for your power which never fails. Our spiritual strength
seems to dissipate each day like the Israelite’s manna. We need the guidance of
your hand because only then are we strong enough to continue moving
forward. We don’t know what this day
will bring us and we do not want to live it without you. The bitterness of life
seems to discourage us. So many people
seem to count on us today, but we do not have strength in reserve. We confess
our poverty and our weakness, because we cannot hide them from you. Strengthen us before we confront our
problems. Make us joyful witnesses to
our new lives. Help us to follow your
example. Help us not to fear the face of
a human being, nor to seek its praise. Remember those who are alone in distant
places. Teach us how to be your collaborators.
Help us to be friends to those who are defeated, marginalized and
oppressed. Help those who feel weak and
dismayed. Give us a day of cheerful service and may our actions be pleasing to
you. May we not forget this time
with you. In your name we pray. Amen.
Prayer: Lord, grant that this be our daily prayer. Amen.
ORACIÓN MATUTINA
JUAN 17:1-26
“Padre justo, el mundo no te ha conocido, pero yo te
he
conocido, y éstos han reconocido que tú me enviaste”
Juan 17:25
“Señor, queremos hablar
contigo en las horas de la mañana, antes de que lleguen las sombras y nuestras
mentes estén ocupadas con los asuntos materiales. Que tu presencia deshaga la
rudeza de nuestros corazones… Los problemas ordinarios de nuestras vidas nos
acongojan y la preocupación por ellos nos agobian. Pero sabemos que para ti no
hay nada difícil, y no hay límites para tu conocimiento. Tú eres el Maestro de
nuestras vidas. Enséñanos a confiar en tu sabiduría y tu amor hoy. Muéstranos
tu rostro y todo estará bien. Te
alabamos por tu poder que nunca falla.
Nuestras fuerzas espirituales parecen acabarse cada día como el maná del
pueblo de Israel. Necesitamos la dirección de tu mano porque sólo así somos lo
suficientemente fuertes para seguir adelante. No sabemos lo que este día nos
traerá y no queremos vivirlo sin ti. Las amarguras de la vida parecen
desanimarnos. Tantos parecen contar con nosotros hoy, pero no tenemos fuerzas
en reserva. Confesamos nuestra pobreza y debilidad, porque no podemos
esconderlas de ti. Fortalécenos antes de que nos enfrentemos a los problemas.
Haz que seamos testigos gozosos de la vida nueva. Ayúdanos para seguir tu
ejemplo. Que no temamos al rostro del ser humano y que no busquemos su alabanza. Acuérdate de los que están solos
en lugares distantes. Enséñanos qué significa ser obreros contigo. Ayúdanos a
ser amigos de los abatidos, marginados y oprimidos. Ayuda a los que se sienten
desmayar. Danos un día de servicio alegre y que te agraden nuestras acciones.
Que no olvidemos este tiempo contigo. En tu nombre oramos. Amén
Oración: Señor, que esta sea nuestra oración diaria. Amén.
