The Lord’s Baptism

DOES CHRIST LIVE IN US?

LUKE 6:27-36

“But love your enemies,

Do good to them,

And lend to them without expecting to get anything back.

Then your reward will be great,

And you will be sons of the Most High.”

Luke 6:35

Let us meditate upon the words of two great Indian minds:

“I admire Christ, but not Christians.”  (Mahatma Gandhi)

“One day I was sitting on the banks of a river.  I picked up a round pebble from the water and when I broke open that stone that had been immersed a long time in the water, it was completely dry on the inside; the water had not penetrated it.  I thought:  this is just like what happens to many people.  For centuries they have been surrounded by Christianity, but it has not penetrated them, it does not live within them.” (Sandhu Singh)

These sentiments cause us to meditate upon the responsibility that we have to be witnesses of our faith.  Reflect upon this today and ask yourself if the living water that Jesus offers us is truly in the interior of our existence.  If it is not, this a good time to fill our internal vessels with the water that gives life, and life in abundance.

Prayer: Lord, help us so that sealed with the water of baptism, we can truly be Christian persons, well penetrated by your love. Amen.

¿VIVE CRISTO EN NOSOTROS?

LUCAS 6:27-36

“Amad, pues, a vuestros enemigos, y haced bien,

y prestad, no esperando de ello nada;

y será vuestro galardón grande, y seréis hijos del Altísimo;

porque él es benigno para con los ingratos y malos”

Lucas 6:35

Meditemos en las palabras de dos grandes pensadores indios:

“Yo admiro a Cristo, pero no a los cristianos” (Mahatma Gandhi)

“Un día estaba yo sentado a la orilla de un río. Cogí del agua una piedra  redonda y partí esa piedra que había estado en el agua muchísimo tiempo, por dentro estaba completamente seca, el agua no había penetrado en ella. Entonces pensé: Eso mismo les ha pasado a muchas personas. Por siglos han estado rodeados por el cristianismo, pero éste no los ha penetrado, no vive dentro de ellos” (Sandhu Singh)

Estos pensamientos nos hacen meditar en la responsabilidad que tenemos al dar testimonios de nuestra fe. Reflexione durante este día y pregúntense si el agua viva que nos ofrece Jesús está verdaderamente en el interior de nuestra existencia. Si no es así, es buen momento para llenar nuestras vasijas interiores con el agua que da vida y vida en abundancia.

Oración: Señor, ayúdanos para que al ser sellados con el agua del bautismo podamos ser personas cristianas verdaderas, bien permeadas por tu amor. Amén.
