THE
DANGEROUS WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT
LUKE 4:
16-21
“See to it
that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which
depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world, rather than
on Christ.”
Colossians
2:8
I am concerned about the way in which, in some countries, certain televised
programs are considered: the world of entertainment.
The word to
entertain, in addition to meaning to provide amusement and recreation, has
a very dangerous significance: to
distract someone from doing something.
We should be responsible with what we consume on a daily basis, and I am
not talking about food, of course; I am talking about what we listen to and
watch every day. Are we falling into
that world that distracts us by keeping us from what is truly most important:
the kingdom of God?
Jesus explains in this biblical text why he has
come to the world: to proclaim
righteousness, to liberate, to give vision, to announce a favorable time for
the neediest and everything in the name of the Lord.
We are responsible for the education of our sons
and daughters and ought to be vigilant so that nothing distracts them from
doing what is right and necessary.
Amusement
is important in our lives, but let us be careful with what “entertains” our
sons and daughters. Let us sit by their
side in front of any series, video, or show, and allow ourselves to ask, to
question and to guide them without hindrance. In the end they will be able to
reach their own conclusions with respect to the world of entertainment.
Prayer: Our loving God, we ask you to give us the wisdom to discern our mission
and to be able to educate our sons and daughters in your statutes and not in
the statutes that do not dignify the life on earth that you offer us.
EL PELIGROSO MUNDO DEL ENTRETENIMIENTO
LUCAS 4: 16-21

de este mundo, pero que no van de acuerdo con Cristo”

Me resulta preocupante de la
manera que, en algunos países, se nombra a ciertos programas televisivos: el
mundo del entretenimiento.
La
palabra entretener además de significar divertir y recrear tiene una
acepción muy peligrosa: distraer a alguien impidiéndole hacer algo. Debemos ser
responsables con lo que consumimos diariamente, y no hablo de comida, por
supuesto, hablo de lo que vemos y escuchamos en el día a día. ¿Estamos cayendo
en ese mundo que nos distrae impidiéndonos ocuparnos de lo verdaderamente
importante: el reino de Dios?
Jesús
en este texto explica para qué ha venido al mundo: para proclamar justicia,
liberar, dar vista, anunciar un tiempo favorable para los más necesitados y
todo en el nombre del Señor.
Somos
responsables en la educación de nuestros hijos e hijas y debemos velar porque
nada les distraiga impidiéndoles hacer lo justo y necesario.
La
diversión es importante en nuestras vidas, pero seamos cautelosos con lo que
“entretiene” a nuestros hijos e hijas. Sentémonos a su lado ante cada serie,
video, show, y permitámonos preguntar, cuestionar, guiarles sin imposiciones.
Al final podrán sacar sus propias conclusiones en relación al mundo del entretenimiento.
Oración:
Amante Dios nuestro, te pedimos que nos des sentido crítico para discernir
nuestra misión y poder educar a nuestros hijos e hijas en tus preceptos y no en
preceptos que no dignifican la vida en la tierra que tú nos ofreces.
