A RESPONSE TO GOD’S QUESTION
ISAIAH 6:1-10
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who
will go for us?’”
Isaiah 6:8
The Bible is filled with
dialogues between God and humans. And in those dialogues God always takes the initiative to ask questions.
In the beginning God asked: Where are you?
And the humans fled from the presence of their Creator. Later God asked:
Where is your brother? This is the
question that has been evaded by humanity in order to avoid responsibility.
Another day, before a burning bush, God said to a man: “Moses, Moses” but he
did not want to listen to the calling to the colossal task of liberating his
people. A young man heard God’s question “Whom shall I send and who will go for
us?” but his immediate and decisive reply was: “Send me.”
On the dusty road journeyed by another man from Jerusalem to Damascus, he
heard the words of his God and he responded: “Lord, what do you want me to do?”
In the history of mankind this is the question that God asks to have
answered. We are challenged to be
obedient instruments of service and a blessing to the world. God continues to
ask each one of us “Who will go?” And God continues to wait for a decisive
reply. Will “Send me” be your response?
Prayer: Lord,
help us to achieve the mission with which you have entrusted us. Amen.
RESPUESTA A LA PREGUNTA DE DIOS
ISAÍAS 6:1-10
“Después oí la voz del Señor, que me decía:
¿A quién enviaré, y quien irá por nosotros?
Entonces respondí yo: Heme aquí, envíame a mí”
Isaías 6:8
La Biblia está llena de
diálogos entre Dios y el ser humano. Y en esos diálogos Dios siempre toma la
iniciativa para preguntar.
En los comienzos Dios preguntó: ¿Dónde estás tú? Y el
ser humano huyó de la presencia de su Creador. Más adelante Dios volvió a preguntarle: ¿Dónde está tu hermano?
Pregunta que ha sido evadida por la humanidad para eludir responsabilidades.
Otro día, ante una zarza ardiente, Dios le dijo a un hombre: “Moisés, Moisés” pero él no quería escuchar el llamamiento a una tarea colosal de libertar un pueblo. El joven escuchó la pregunta de Dios “¿A quién enviaré y quién irá por nosotros?” pero su respuesta fue, inmediata y decidida: “Envíame a mí”.
Otro día, ante una zarza ardiente, Dios le dijo a un hombre: “Moisés, Moisés” pero él no quería escuchar el llamamiento a una tarea colosal de libertar un pueblo. El joven escuchó la pregunta de Dios “¿A quién enviaré y quién irá por nosotros?” pero su respuesta fue, inmediata y decidida: “Envíame a mí”.
En el polvoriento camino que recorría otro hombre de
Jerusalén a Damasco, oyó las palabras de su Dios y él respondió: “Señor, ¿Qué
quieres que yo haga?
En la historia del ser humano es perpetua esta pregunta
de Dios para ser respondida. Tenemos el desafío de ser un instrumento dócil de
servicio y bendición al mundo. Dios sigue preguntando a cada uno de nosotros
¿Quién irá? Y Dios sigue esperando, por una respuesta decidida ¿Responderá
usted: Envíame a mí?
Oración: Señor, ayúdanos a cumplir
la misión que nos encomendaste. Amén.
