Anniversary of the “Juan G. Hall” Church (Cárdenas)
IF WE DRANK OF HIS WATER!
JOHN 4:1-29
“…but whoever drinks the water I give him will
never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water
welling up to eternal life.”
John 4:14
A few years ago I was living with my family in a small town surrounded by
rivers. In one of them there was a
beautiful waterfall with constantly falling water, always fresh. I would spend hours
contemplating that spectacular beauty…
I often recall these images with nostalgia and I relate them with the words
of Jesus. At this very moment, these words take on a special meaning for us. In
most parts of the world, the water reserves have been exhausted and
contamination turns the water into the cause of epidemics and very dangerous
diseases. How greatly we appreciate our
clean and abundant water today!
But today Jesus invites us to drink from a special kind of water: water
that quenches our daily spiritual thirst. Jesus invites us to drink constantly
from that water so that we will never thirst again. Each time that we are in prayer, in communion
with brothers and sisters or reading his word, we can feel how that water
refreshes us, quenches our thirst and blesses us.
Prayer: Lord, in the same way
that I receive the water of life, grant that I may also help others to come to
this spring so that the world does not die of thirst. Through Jesus I ask you for this. Amen.

¡SI BEBIÉRAMOS DE SU AGUA!
JUAN 4:1-29
“pero el que beba del agua
que yo le daré,
no tendrá sed jamás. Más
bien, el agua que yo le daré
será en él una fuente de agua
que fluya para vida eterna”
Juan 4:14
Hace
varios años viví con mi familia en un pequeño pueblo rodeado de ríos. En uno de
ellos había una bonita cascada en la que el agua caía constantemente, siempre
nueva. Yo pasaba horas contemplando
aquel espectáculo bellísimo...
A menudo recuerdo esas imágenes con añoranza y las
relaciono con las palabras de Jesús.
En el momento actual, estas palabras adquieren un
significado especial para nosotros. En gran parte del mundo las reservas de
agua están agotadas y la contaminación hace del agua una causa de epidemias y
enfermedades muy peligrosas- ¡Cuánto apreciamos hoy el agua cuando está limpia,
y es abundante!
Pero Jesús nos invita hoy a beber de un agua
especial. Un agua que sacia la sed espiritual de todos los días.
Jesús nos invita a beber constantemente de esa agua
para que no tengamos más sed.
Cada vez que estemos en oración, en comunión con
hermanos y hermanas o leyendo su palabra, sintamos cómo esa agua nos refresca,
nos sacia y nos bendice.
Oración:
Señor, de la misma forma en que recibo el agua de vida que también ayude a
otros a venir a esta fuente para que el mundo no muera de sed. Te lo pido por Jesús. Amén
