EvE: SOURCE OF LIFE GEnesis
1: 26-31
“In the Lord, however, woman is not independent
of man, nor is man independent of woman.”
I
Corinthians 11: 11
In the
biblical story of creation we find two very interesting figures: Adam and Eve.
The role of women in the Church and in the home needs to be
re-evaluated. Machismo continues to
wreak havoc in our society, and ultimately also within the Church.
In the biblical story of the creation of human beings, we find that the
call that God makes and the responsibilities that he delegates are the same for
the man and for the woman. Historical transformation later made the man’s place
in society privileged and exalted with respect to that of a woman.
There are many “Eves” in our world today, almost anonymous, who are
entirely committed to multiple tasks with which they interpret their role in
God’s mission. Their names are not
mentioned, just as Eve is barely mentioned in the first chapters of Genesis,
except in order to point out her responsibility in the fall to temptation. But the most important thing is that their
mission continues to be realized because nothing gets in their way, neither
anonymity nor renown.
Prayer: Lord, may
the light of your righteousness shine in the midst of our oversights. Grant
that we be capable of recognizing those women who have responded to your call
and have shared the gifts that you have bestowed upon them in carrying out your
work. Grant also that we be capable of accomplishing your mission even without
that acknowledgment.

En el relato bíblico de
la creación nos encontramos con dos figuras muy interesantes: Adam y Eva. El
papel de la mujer en la Iglesia y en el hogar necesita ser re-evaluado. El
machismo sigue haciendo estragos en nuestra sociedad, y por ende en la Iglesia también.
En el relato bíblico de
la creación del ser humano, nos encontramos que el llamado que hace Dios y las
responsabilidades que otorga son las mismas para el hombre y la mujer. Luego en
el devenir histórico el lugar del hombre en la sociedad fue privilegiado y
exaltado con respecto al de la mujer.
Hoy hay muchas “Evas”,
casi anónimas, que están entregadas por entero a múltiples tareas con las
cuales ellas interpretan su papel en la misión de Dios. Sus nombres no se
mencionan, como apenas se menciona el de Eva en los primeros capítulos del
Génesis, a no ser para resaltarla como responsable en la caída ante la
tentación. Pero lo más importante es que la misión se sigue realizando porque a
ellas nada las detiene, ni el anonimato, ni el renombre.
Oración: Señor, que la luz de tu
justicia brille en medio de nuestros olvidos. Que seamos capaces de reconocer a
aquellas que han respondido a tu llamado y han compartido los dones con que las
has capacitado en el desarrollo de tu obra. Por otro lado que seamos capaces de
realizar hoy la misión sin importar el renombre.
