THE WISDOM OF LOVE
EPHESIANS 5:15-20
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise…
Ephesians 5:15
The world of girls and boys is more profound and more sensitive than what
we imagine. As of the time that they
begin to greet the world, as of their first emotions, feelings and thoughts,
they begin to knit themselves like invisible threads of tenderness and love
that gradually connect them to their surroundings, to their mothers and their
fathers. This of course doesn’t occur out
of nothing; for this “magic” to be produced, mother and father need to conduct
their lives “not as unwise but as wise,”
offering their child a warm and welcoming home, marked by relationships of love
and respect for life.
Today’s text for our reflection was written to a community with
characteristics different from our own, within a specific socio-cultural
context. Nevertheless, if we apply it to
our own community, we should acknowledge that within its instructions we can
find the firm presence of a message that reaches us in our present reality and
inspires trust and proposes the wisdom that is generated by good communication
and affection between all members of the family, such that the children are
guaranteed a balanced and calm emotional development.
Prayer: God, you who loves us and who manifests
yourself through love, grant that we may guide our girls and boys with wisdom,
through constant work, discipline, service and all that life inspires. Amen.

El mundo de las niñas y los
niños es más profundo y sensible de lo que imaginamos. Desde que comienzan a
saludar al mundo, desde sus primeras emociones, sentimientos, pensamientos, se
empiezan a tejer como hilos invisibles de ternura y amor que los van conectando
con su entorno, sus madres y sus padres. Por supuesto que esto no ocurre de la
nada, para que esta “magia” se produzca
se necesita que mamá y papá conduzcan sus vidas, “no como necios sino como
sabios”, sino propiciándoles un hogar cálido, receptivo, marcado por
relaciones de amor y respeto por la vida.
El texto que nos invita a
la reflexión el día de hoy, aunque fue escrito a una comunidad con
características diferentes a las nuestras, ya que responde a un contexto socio
cultural determinado, sí debemos reconocer que cuando lo colocamos en el
nuestro, en sus instrucciones
encontramos la presencia firme de un mensaje que nos alcanza en nuestra
realidad e inspira confianza y nos propone la sabiduría que se genera desde una
buena comunicación y los afectos entre todos los miembros de la familia, de
manera que garantice a niñas y niños un desarrollo emocional equilibrado y
sosegado.
Oración: Dios que nos amas y te
manifiestas desde el amor, permite que podamos guiar a nuestras niñas y niños,
con sabiduría, desde el trabajo constante,
la disciplina, el servicio, y todo lo que inspire la vida. Amén.
