Anniversary of the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Sancti Spiritus

NEHEMIAH 12:27-43

 Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God,

   that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.             

Hebrews 13:15

The Jews were accustomed to seeing workers and guards on the walls of Jerusalem, but now Nehemiah and Ezra designated people who were to praise the new walls. They directed a dedication service with such enthusiasm that their voices and songs were heard “from afar”. It wasn’t only the “professional musicians” who expressed praise to God, but the women and children also joined in the songs; all had listened to the Word, and now it was natural that they expressed their praise because to learn the Word of God and praise the Lord should occur together.

Every Sunday in our church, a group of African youths studying in our country raise their voices in praise of the Lord. Such is the devotion and reverence of those brothers and sisters that everyone in the congregation feels inspired by their songs, and not a few of us repeat the refrains, enjoying not only their voices but also their joy, their dancing, feeling ourselves joined in Spirit with those who have come “from afar”, here together as the family we are, the people of God.

Prayer:  Lord, we pray for all the young foreign students who find themselves studying in our country. Accompany them in their studies, and bless their lives. We ask this in the name of our beloved Jesus. Amen.

DESDE LEJOS

NEHEMÍAS 12:27-43

Así que ofrezcamos continuamente a Dios, por medio

de Jesucristo, un sacrificio de alabanza, es decir,

el fruto de los labios que confiesan su nombre.

Los judíos se habían acostumbrado a ver obreros y vigilantes en los muros de Jerusalén, pero ahora Nehemías y Esdras designaron personas que iban a adorar en los nuevos muros. Dirigieron un servicio de dedicación con tal entusiasmo que sus voces y cantos fueron oídos “desde lejos”.

No fueron solamente los “músicos profesionales” los que expresaron la alabanza a Dios, sino que las mujeres y los niños también se unieron en los cantos, todos habían escuchado la Palabra y ahora era natural que expresaran su adoración, porque aprender la Palabra de Dios y adorar al Señor deben ir juntos.

En nuestra Iglesia cada domingo un grupo de jóvenes africanos que estudian en nuestro país, alzan sus voces en alabanza al Señor, es tal la devoción y reverencia de estos hermanos y hermanas que todos en la congregación nos sentimos inspirados con sus cantos y no somos pocos los que repetimos los estribillos,  disfrutando no solo de sus voces sino de su alegría, de su baile, sintiéndonos uno solo en Espíritu con ellos que han venido “desde lejos” y ellos con nosotros en la familia que somos, el pueblo de Dios.

Oración: Señor te pedimos por todos los jóvenes extranjeros que se encuentran estudiando en nuestro país, acompáñalos en sus estudios, bendícelos en sus vidas. Por nuestro amado Jesús te lo pedimos. Amén.
