THE BANQUET OF LADY WISDOM
Proverbs 9:1-6
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God
chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”
1 Corinthians 1:27
I have a neighbor who was not able to study very
much, he barely completed primary school, but whenever I have any sort of
problem, I take it to him, because he has shown me a great understanding of
life. My neighbor may not have much scientific knowledge but he has great
wisdom.
Do not confuse wisdom with culture. I know renowned individuals who have shown me
what total fools they really are.
Wisdom is intelligence and heart at the same
time. It is harmony, balance, a
relationship with life. It is a gift
from above, and not everyone has it.
In today’s biblical reading, wisdom has been
symbolically invited to a banquet from which no one is excluded. But only those who are the neediest, those
who are hungry, the wisest, will accept the invitation, while those who
consider themselves too intellectual and aren’t hungry will perhaps forego the
banquet.
The banquet of Lady Wisdom is a prototype of the
Christian banquet: the bread and the
wine that Christ presents to us contain the Life and the Wisdom of God, as long
as we commit ourselves in our life plan.
Prayer: Lord, give me wisdom not for my
personal glory but rather in order to glorify your Name. Amen.
EL BANQUETE DE DOÑA SABIDURÍA
Proverbios 9:1-6
“Dios eligió lo necio del mundo, para avergonzar a
los
sabios; y lo débil del mundo, para avergonzar a lo fuerte”
1 Corintios 1:27
Tengo
un vecino que no pudo estudiar mucho, apenas terminó la primaria, pero siempre
que tengo algún tipo de problema se lo comparto, porque me ha demostrado un
gran conocimiento de la vida. Mi vecino no tiene ciencia, pero sí mucha sabiduría.
No
confundas sabiduría con cultura. Conozco a personas muy ilustradas, que me han
demostrado que son verdaderamente tontas.
La
sabiduría es inteligencia y corazón al mismo tiempo. Es armonía, equilibrio,
relación con la vida. Es un don de lo alto, que no todos la poseen.
En
el pasaje leído, la sabiduría está invitando, de manera simbólica, a un
banquete del cual nadie está excluido. Pero los más necesitados, los que tienen
hambre, los más sabios, aceptarán la invitación; y quizá los que se consideran
muy intelectuales no tienen hambre y no asistirán al banquete.
El banquete de Doña Sabiduría es un prototipo del banquete cristiano: el
pan y el vino que nos presenta Cristo contienen la Vida y la Sabiduría de Dios,
siempre y cuando nos comprometamos en nuestro proyecto de vida.
Oración: Señor, dame sabiduría no para mi vanagloria personal, sino para glorificar
tu Nombre. Amén
