THE PEOPLE GO AFTER HIM
Mark 6:53-56
“And a great crowd
followed him, because they saw the signs he did”
John
6:2
The Gospels speak to
us of the great multitude that followed Jesus, and furthermore, that they came
from all parts. We have the examples of the Roman centurion who came to him so
that he might heal his beloved servant. And the Syrophoenician woman who asked
for healing for her daughter, exceeding established customs and rules.
Jesus moved
multitudes - more than he denounced the sins of the people – he healed and
announced the advent of the kingdom of God; he invited them to live a new life,
emphasizing the rule of love; he exhorted mutual acceptance, and affirmed the
time of reconciliation with all creation.
Jesus
invites us to walk with him and with his people, to transform it totally and
create a new humanity.
Prayer: Lord, I
will follow you wherever you may go. Amen.

“Y
una gran multitud lo seguía, porque veía
las
señales que hacía”
Juan 6:2
Los
evangelios nos hablan de la gran multitud que seguía a Jesús y que, además,
venían de todas partes. Tenemos los ejemplos del centurión romano, que vino a
él para que sanara a su querido siervo, y de la mujer sirofenicia, que pidió
sanidad para su hija, sobrepasando costumbres y reglas establecidas.
Jesús,
movía multitudes, más que denunciar los pecados del pueblo, él sanaba y
anunciaba el advenimiento con él del reinado de Dios. Invitaba a vivir una vida
nueva, enfatizando la regla del amor; exhortaba a la mutua aceptación, y
afirmaba el tiempo de la reconciliación con toda la creación.
Jesús nos convida a caminar junto con él y con su pueblo, para
transformarlo todo y crear una nueva humanidad.
Oración: Señor, te seguiré a donde quiera que tú vayas. Amén.
