IF YOU BELIEVE, YOU WILL SEE GOD’S GLORY

John 11:28-44

       

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.”

Romans 6:5

This is the day on which we Christians affectionately remember the many loved ones who have gone before us and who are now enjoying the presence of the Lord. In accordance with the words of the Patmos visionary, we can affirm: "Blessed are those from now on who die in the Lord.”

 We all know people who suffer in the extreme when someone in the family dies. Oftentimes some of them have been praying for God to heal their loved ones when something fatal occurs and they die, and then they hold it against God, thinking that He has failed them and has not kept His promises to heal and restore health. And if this is the case, they then find themselves in a state of resentment which generally ends in the abandonment of their faith.

For Mary, Lazarus’s sister, Jesus’s delay in responding to her call when her brother was sick was what had allowed Lazarus to die. But Jesus tells her that there is a new kairós where the kingdom of God breaks in and even death, the ultimate enemy, is powerless over humankind.

Today we can live trusting that our faith in the Lord assures us a place beside Him, in his eternal glory. Today we can encourage others to live with that hope.  Life in God is eternal life, even if death takes us by surprise.  It is abundant life, to be enjoyed even in the midst of loss.

Prayer: We remember those faithful servants who have died in the Lord.

SI CREES, VERÁS LA GLORIA DE DIOS

Juan 11:28-44

       

“Si nos hemos unidos a Cristo en su muerte,

así también nos uniremos a él en su resurrección”

Romanos 6:5

En este día los cristianos recordamos con afecto a tantos seres queridos que nos han precedido en el camino y hoy gozan de la presencia del Señor, conforme a las palabras del vidente de Patmos podemos afirmar: "Bienaventurados de aquí en adelante los muertos que mueren en el Señor".

Todos conocemos de personas que se afligen en extremo ante la muerte de sus familiares. Muchas veces algunos de ellos que han estado en oración intercediendo a Dios por sanidad para sus seres queridos cuando ocurre un desenlace fatal y fallecen, entonces la emprenden contra Dios al creer que les ha fallado y no ha cumplido sus promesas de sanar y restaurar. Y si esto es así, se ven entonces en una situación de rencor que por lo general culmina en un abandono de la fe.

Para María, hermana de Lázaro, la demora de Jesús en responder a su llamada cuando su hermano estaba enfermo era lo que había permitido que Lázaro hubiera muerto. Pero Jesús le anuncia que hay un nuevo kairós donde el reino de Dios irrumpe y aún la muerte, ese enemigo postrero, no tiene poder sobre el género humano.

Hoy debemos vivir confiados en que nuestra fe en el Señor nos asegura un lugar junto Él, en su eterna gloria. Hoy podemos asegurarles a otros que vivan con esa esperanza. La vida en Dios es vida eterna, aunque la muerte nos sorprenda, es vida abundante, para disfrutarla aún en medio dela pérdida.

Oración: Recordamos aquellos siervos y siervas fieles que han muerto en el Señor.
