USEFUL FOR SOMETHING

PSALM 92:13-15

“Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God…”

Psalm 71:18

Perhaps the thought that you’re no good for anything anymore enters into the minds of many elderly persons. 

I once read the following words written by a young believer, which I would like to share with you today: 

“Elderly believers have encouraged me through their faith, their inner strength, their serenity and their love.  These are memories that remain alive in my mind. I would like to say to all those who feel useless: Don’t be discouraged!  Turn back to God!  He loves you and wants to make you participate in his labor of love.  He wants to reach other people through your life and your testimony.  By God’s grace you can be living witnesses of what his love does in those who place their trust in Him. Don’t stop praying. In answer to prayer, God does great things that bring happy consequences, even over several generations.  Life’s sunset years are a very important stage of our journey through this earth.  Therefore, young or old, we have the certainty of belonging to Him, who prepares us for eternity.”

This testimony of a life of trust in God indicates the pathway to follow and encourages all who know how to bear it in mind.

Prayer:  Lord, guide us in order to make our elderly folks understand that they are beloved beings and that they are the wellspring of wisdom for the youngest. Amen.

SERVIR PARA ALGO

SALMO 92:13-15

“Aun en la vejez y las canas, oh Dios, no me desampares…”

Salmo 71:18

Quizás el pensamiento de que ya no sirve para nada, llegue a la mente de muchos ancianos.

En una ocasión leí estas palabras escritas por un  creyente joven, que me  gustaría compartir con ustedes hoy: “A menudo creyentes ancianos me animaron por su fe, su fuerza  interior, su serenidad y su amor. Son recuerdos que permanecen vivos en mi mente.

Me gustaría decir a todos aquellos que se sienten inútiles: ¡No se desanimen! ¡Vuélvanse  a Dios! Él los ama y quiere hacerles participar en su obra de amor. Quiere llegar a otras personas mediante su vida y su testimonio. Por la gracia de Dios ustedes pueden ser testigos vivos de lo que su amor hace en los que depositan su confianza en Él. No dejen de orar. Como respuesta a la oración, Dios hace  grandes cosas que traen felices consecuencias, incluso durante varias generaciones. El ocaso de la vida es una etapa muy importante de nuestro paso por esta tierra. Entonces, jóvenes o ancianos, tenemos la certeza de pertenecer a Él, quien nos prepara para la eternidad”.

Este testimonio de una vida de confianza en Dios indica el camino a seguir y anima a todos los que saben tenerlo en cuenta.

Oración: Señor, guíanos para hacerles entender a nuestros ancianos que son seres queridos y que son fuente de sabiduría para los más jóvenes. Amén.
