CHRIST’S LOVE REIGN!
II TIMOTHY 4:1-8
“For I am already
being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:6-7
We have observed that there is an interest in our society for raising self-esteem
in those people we call elderly adults and in fostering respect towards them. We
find the idea to be very positive. Adults occasionally suffer due to a lack of
values expressed in disrespectful and rude behaviors. In many homes their
opinions are ignored as old-fashioned. The younger generation complains about
the “old folks” and the elderly complain about the young people.
There are various factors that create this situation; but all is resolved
when the love of Christ reigns in these relationships. Love unites, forgives, understands, tolerates
and fills us with the spirit of service.
Today’s exhortation is to make the love of Christ reign wherever there is
conflict between those who are living together. Love cures tensions and heals
the wounds caused by disrespect and intolerance. Let us respect our elders and our seniors.
Let us also be respectful of children and young people, of their opinions,
their motivations. May the love of Christ reign!
Prayer: Generous God, fill us with the love and
wisdom to create and sustain an environment of peace and harmony within our
families. Amen.

REINE EL AMOR DE CRISTO!

peleado la buena batalla,

acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe…”

Timoteo 4: 6-7
Hemos observado que existe en nuestra sociedad un
interés por elevar la autoestima de las personas a quienes llamamos adultos mayores y fomentar el respeto hacia
ellas.
La idea la consideramos muy positiva. Los adultos
sufren en ocasiones la falta de valores expresada en conductas irrespetuosas y
poco formales. En muchos hogares además no se toma muy en cuenta sus criterios
que califican pasados de moda. Los
jóvenes se quejan de los “viejos” y éstos
de los jóvenes.
Variados son los factores que crean esta situación;
pero todo se resuelve cuando el amor de Cristo reina en las relaciones. El amor
une, perdona, comprende, tolera y nos llena del espíritu de servicio.
La exhortación en el día de hoy es a que hagamos
reinar el amor de Cristo allí donde hay conflictos propios de la convivencia.
El amor cura tensiones y sana las heridas causadas por el irrespeto y la
intolerancia. Respetemos a nuestros ancianos, a las personas adultas.
Respetemos también a los niños y jóvenes, sus criterios, sus motivaciones. ¡Que
reine el amor de Cristo!
Oración: Dios
bondadoso, llénanos del amor que nos hace sabios para crear y sostener un
ambiente de paz y armonía en la familia. Amén.
