WHAT WILL TOMORROW
BRING?
GALATIANS 1:3-4
“The Lord is not slow
in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to
perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
II Peter 3:9
The perspective of
the end of the world has always been presented as a spine-chilling and
catastrophic vision. The prophecies about this topic make some laugh and others
tremble. At the present time, the
findings of some scientists about the state of the planet and the possibility
of a catastrophe that could destroy all of humanity are not reassuring. The Bible does not have specific teachings
about these topics that are so terrifying, and it does not give any date for
when they will occur. No one can make predictions based on the Bible. The symbolic language of the Book of
Revelation, for example, does not try to impress anyone through frightening
images, so that, through fear, they will turn to God. The apocalypse inspired hope for the
Christian men and women of its time and for us at present in order to keep our
testimony and our faith alive in the midst of persecution.
The Word of God
invites us to consider our lives on earth as transient and therefore to be
lived to the fullest. We should not waste our time imagining or investigating
the nature of the end times, when there is so much that we need to do today and
now in order to fulfill God’s will.
We are living in
critical and uncertain times, but God, who knows the future and loves all human
beings, reminds us through his Word that today is a day of grace and
salvation. What will tomorrow
bring? Tomorrow is in God’s hands!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord,
because you give me a new opportunity each day to repent and commit my life to
you. Amen.

La
perspectiva del fin del mundo siempre ha sido presentada desde una visión
escalofriante y catastrófica. Las profecías sobre este tema hacen reír a unos y
temblar a otros. Hoy, las constataciones de algunos científicos sobre el estado
del planeta y la posibilidad de que se produzca una catástrofe que pueda
destruir a toda la humanidad no nos tranquiliza. La Biblia no enseña
particularmente sobre estos temas que tanto asustan, y no da ninguna fecha para
que estos ocurran. Basándose en ella nadie puede hacer predicciones. La Biblia
en el lenguaje simbólico del apocalipsis, por ejemplo, no pretende impresionar
a nadie a través de imágenes sobrecogedoras, para que, a través del miedo, se
vuelvan a Dios. El apocalipsis inspira esperanzas a los cristianos y cristianas
de su tiempo y a nosotros para mantener vivo el testimonio y la fe en medio de
las persecuciones.
La
Palabra de Dios nos invitaba considerar nuestra vida en la tierra como pasajera
y por eso aprovechable al máximo. No debemos desperdiciar nuestro tiempo
imaginando o indagando sobre la índole última o terrible de los tiempos del
fin, cuando tanto tenemos que hacer hoy y ahora para dar cumplimiento a la
voluntad de Dios.
Vivimos
tiempos críticos y de incertidumbre, pero Dios, quien conoce el futuro y ama a
todos los seres humanos, nos recuerda mediante su Palabra que hoy es un día de
gracia y salvación. ¿Qué sucederá
mañana? !El mañana está en manos de Dios!
Oración:
Gracias Señor, porque cada día me das una nueva oportunidad de arrepentirme
y entregar mi vida a ti. Amén.
