ONLY ONE LIFE FOR SERVING THE LORD

1 SAMUEL 9:27

Jesus said to him, follow me.

John 21:22

Nowadays it is a common thing for a person to begin a new profession after having worked for many years in another. But in our Christian career, when we come to the end of our lives and realize that we have neglected the task of serving the Lord, we don’t have the possibility of starting over again, and so we feel remorse when we take stock of the passed years.

The Lord does not entrust the same service to all believers; he distributes them wholly according to his will. Not everyone receives a capacity of service of the same magnitude from him; but although it may be the smallest and most humble, one has the duty of being a faithful witness wherever one finds oneself. We’re not dealing with a job that we should complete out of obligation, but of a vision, perhaps unclear, that the Lord asks us to complete for Him with joy, today and all the days until his return.

Will we allow the days, the months, and the years to pass while worrying about nothing more than assuring our comforts, instead of responding to the calls of our Master so that we might follow and serve him?

As disciples of the Lord, today we should also reflect upon what he expects from each of us:   humbly serve him, and with love, in whatever service He may have entrusted to us.

Prayer:  Thank you, my good God, for being able to serve you. Thank you for the opportunity you give us to work for you. Amen.

SOLO UNA VIDA PARA SERVIR AL SEÑOR

Actualmente es común que después de haber ejercido durante algún tiempo una profesión, se empiece con otra. Pero en nuestra carrera cristiana cuando llegamos al fin de nuestras vidas y reconocemos haber descuidado la tarea de servir al Señor, no tenemos posibilidades  de volver a empezarla. Entonces sentimos pesar al hacer el balance de los años pasados.

El Señor no confía el mismo servicio a todos los creyentes. Los distribuye soberanamente según su voluntad. No todos reciben de Él una capacidad de servicio de la misma magnitud. Pero aunque sea el más pequeño o el más humilde, uno tiene el deber  de ser un testigo fiel donde se encuentre. No se trata de un trabajo que debemos cumplir por obligación, sino de una misión, quizás oculta, que el Señor nos pide llevar a cabo para Él con gozo, hoy y todos los días hasta su regreso.

¿Dejaremos pasar los días,  los meses y los años sin preocuparnos  más por asegurar nuestras comodidades que por responder a los llamados de nuestro Maestro para que le sigamos y le sirvamos?

Nosotros también como discípulos del Señor, hoy debemos reflexionar sobre lo que Él espera de cada uno de nosotros: que le sirvamos humildemente y con  amor en cualquiera que sea el servicio que Él nos haya encomendado.

Oración: Gracias mi buen Dios, por  poder servirte. Gracias por la oportunidad que nos das de trabajar para ti. Amén.
