THAT MINUTE THAT WE CANNOT FOREGO

MARK 1:35-39

Very early in the morning, when it was still dark,

Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place where he prayed.

There exists in our community a tradition to celebrate daily devotionals. It’s a short time we dedicate to prayer and meditation before beginning our daily labors. Also, no other practice lifts us up to begin the day. Nevertheless, I recognize that on occasion we feign this community time, pretending to have already done our personal devotional, or explaining that there’s not much time in the day for all we must do. Fortunately, our daily encounter with God is a necessity, and later we resume the rhythm.

Sisters and brothers, as hectic as our lives may be, we should never violate this moment of encounter with the Lord, and if it’s experienced in community, so much the better. Whether it’s upon rising or before going to bed, gather with your family, with some neighbor, with some of your brothers or sisters from the church to experience that minute of prayer and meditation together with the God of life.

Jesus went out very early in the morning to meet with God in prayer before he began to preach. Don’t let this be just for Sundays; reserve a space, although it might be for just a short time, to feed your faith. Without doubt, the result will be a fruitful day, one that is blessed by God.

Prayer:  Our God, let us be conscious of the need to meet with you in sincere communion before undertaking any action in the day. Amen.

ESE MINUTO QUE NO PUEDE FALTAR

MARCOS 1:35-39

Muy de madrugada, cuando todavía estaba oscuro,

Jesús se levantó, salió de la casa y se fue a un lugar solitario, donde se puso a orar.

En nuestra comunidad existe la tradición de celebrar devocionales diarios. Es un tiempo de escasos minutos que dedicamos a la oración y la meditación antes de comenzar nuestras labores cotidianas. También algún que otro canto no anima a comenzar el día. Sin embargo, reconozco que en ocasiones afectamos este tiempo comunitario aludiendo que ya hicimos nuestro devocional personal o que no hay mucho tiempo para todo lo que debemos hacer en el día.  Afortunadamente nuestro encuentro con Dios diario es una necesidad y luego retomamos el ritmo.

Hermanas y hermanos, por muy agitada que sea nuestra vida, nunca debemos violar ese minuto de encuentro con el Señor y si lo vivimos en comunidad mucho mejor. Ya sea al levantarnos a antes de ir al descanso, reúnase con su familia, con algún vecino, con alguno de sus hermanos o hermanas de la iglesia, para vivir ese minuto de oración y meditación junto al Dios de la vida.

Jesús, salió muy de madrugada a encontrarse con Dios en oración, antes de comenzar a predicar.

No lo deje sólo para el domingo, cada día reserve, aunque sea un pequeño tiempo para alimentar su fe. ¡Sin dudas, el resultado será un día fructífero y bendecido por Dios!

Oración: Dios nuestro permite que seamos conscientes de la necesidad de encontrarnos contigo en comunión sincera, antes de acometer cualquier acción en el día. Amén.
