WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DECIDE?

JAMES 4:13-17

What is your life?

For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

James 4:14

Today is the end of this year 2016.

Today is an opportunity for each of us to pause and take a moment to reflect on where we have gone and where we have backtracked this year. The Bible tells us that God is the giver of life and breath and all things. Of all our gifts, is not time one of the most precious? Eventually, everything can be recovered. A ruined health, a compromised family life or fortune are not always irreversible. What does it mean when we speak of a lost year? Or of a lost life?

Let’s take a glance at the year that has just finished and ask ourselves what it brought with it. Without a doubt joys, and probably also letdowns. But in regard to what is essential, what is most important?  Is it health, family, the education of our children, our profession, our money? Certainly all of that is important, but it only has worth in the present life.

The year that begins tomorrow, 2017, entails very important choices. Let us seek the Kingdom of God and his justice, and everything else will be added. Ask for God’s wisdom in each of your decisions and actions in this new year.  Choose well!

Prayer: Thank you, God, for this year and also for the one which approaches. Bless us and accompany us in each of our decisions.  Amen.

¿QUÉ VAS A DECIDIR?

SANTIAGO 4:13-17

¿Qué es vuestra vida? Ciertamente es neblina que se esparce

por un poco de tiempo, y luego se desvanece                                                     

Santiago 4:14

Hoy termina este año 2016.

Hoy es la oportunidad para que cada uno haga una pausa y se tome un momento para reflexionar sobre lo que hemos andado y desandado durante este año.  La Biblia nos dice que Dios es quien da a todos vida y aliento y todas las cosas.  De todos sus dones ¿no es el tiempo uno de los más preciosos? Eventualmente, todo puede ser recuperado. Una salud arruinada, una vida de familia o una fortuna comprometida no siempre son irreversibles. ¿Qué quiere decir, pues, un año perdido? ¿Y qué de toda una vida perdida?

Echemos un vistazo al año que acaba y preguntémonos qué trajo consigo. Sin duda alegrías, probablemente también decepciones. Pero, en lo que concierne a lo esencial, ¿Qué es lo principal? ¿La salud, la familia, la educación de los hijos, la profesión, el dinero? por cierto, todo esto es importante, pero sólo vale para la vida presente.

El año que comienza mañana, 2017, entraña opciones de mucha importancia. Procuremos el reino de Dios y su justicia, todo lo demás vendrá por añadidura. Pida la sabiduría de Dios en cada una de las decisiones y acciones de este nuevo año. ¡Elija bien!
