LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME
PSALM 84
Give us today our daily
bread…
Luke 11:3
I once read something that caught my eye, where
it said that one of the secrets of a happy Christian life is to live one day at
a time. Undertaking multiple things at the same time is exhausting. We can’t live
all of life at one time. Tomorrow doesn’t belong to us, and when it arrives,
God will give us our daily bread and strength.
It also said that a person cannot horde up
grace today for the future; neither can he consume enough today to last for the
next six months, or to hold enough air in his lungs to last him a week. But one
day after another, we can utilize the reserves of God’s grace according to our
needs.
Psalm 84 calls a blessed man he who has his
strength from God; and at the same time, it shows us the importance of
employing that strength for each step of the journey.
Teacher Castellanos always said, “God only
illuminates the next step.” That phrase
has stayed with me during many moments of my life.
Were it possible to make a provision of
energy for tomorrow, the believer would certainly cease looking for strength in
God tomorrow; he would rely on the supply stored up and not upon that which was
given him.
God will always provide all that’s necessary
– but day by day!
Prayer: Compassionate God, we pray that you may give
us the ability to hope in you, without worrying about anything. Amen.

SALMO 84
El pan nuestro
de cada día, dánoslo hoy…
Lucas 11:3
En una ocasión leí algo que me
llamó la atención, donde decía que uno de los secretos de una vida feliz
cristiana es vivir un día a la vez. Emprender muchas cosas al mismo tiempo es
lo que nos desgasta. No podemos vivir toda la vida de un golpe. El mañana no
nos pertenece y cuando llegue, Dios nos dará nuestro pan y nuestra fuerza
cotidianos.
También decía que una persona
no puede tomar una reserva hoy de gracia para el porvenir, como tampoco puede
comer hoy suficientemente para los próximos seis meses, ni aspirar bastante
aire en los pulmones para vivir una semana. Pero un día tras otro se nos permite utilizar las
reservas de la gracia de Dios según nuestras necesidades.
El salmo 84 llama
bienaventurado al ser humano que tiene su fuerza en Dios, y al mismo tiempo nos
muestra la importancia de utilizar esa
fuerza para dar cada paso en su camino.
El maestro Castellanos siempre
decía: Dios sólo alumbra el próximo paso. Esa frase me ha acompañado en
muchos momentos de mi vida.
Con certeza, si fuera posible
hacer una provisión de energía para mañana, el creyente dejaría de buscar
fuerza en Dios mañana, descansaría en el suministro recibido, y no en aquel que
se lo dio. ¡Dios siempre nos proveerá de todo lo necesario, pero día a día!
Oración: Dios compasivo, oramos que nos des la capacidad de
esperar en ti, sin afanarnos por nada. Amén
