GOOD DAY
ACTS 17:26-31

And God said, “let there be light,” and there was light.
God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”
And there was evening and there was morning – the first day.

Genesis 1:3-5

We were finishing the course for the School for Older Adults. Everyone was sharing this time with joy, exchanging poems, and songs. One of the professors gave to each person present a small poster which said “Good day,” suggesting that we put it in a place where we could see it daily. She explained to us that those two simple words would remind us that despite all the problems of living daily it was important to know that it could be a good day.

It was a nice detail for those of us already accustomed to said professor, but furthermore it made us think about the importance of saying “Good day” to ourselves and to others.

That moment I remembered a line from the song I’d often heard in my youth which said, “Today can be a great day to give you an opportunity…” And I placed the little poster in a visible place so I could see it each day.  Because, really, each day is an opportunity that the Lord gives us to better ourselves, to live, to help, to renew ourselves, and how fine it is to trust that every morning God is saying “Good day.”

At times we are so overwhelmed that we wish the morning wouldn’t come, since it will bring with it great problems and difficulties to resolve, those for which we have no solution. So then, although everything that surrounds us may speak to the contrary, we will remember those two words: “Good day.” Let’s move forward with the conviction that the Lord is gifting us with a new opportunity, no matter what age we may be. Today I invite you to share a “Good Day” with others, not just for propriety, but because you feel it to be so.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for one more good day in our lives; be with us this day and always. Amen.

BUEN Día
HECHOS 17:26-31

Entonces Dios dijo: “¡Que haya luz!”, Y hubo luz.
