WE AREN’T ALONE

JOHN 14:15-26

Jesus said, “I will not leave you as orphans;

I will come to you.” (NIV)

John 14:18

What anguish! How are we going to continue in the future? What are we going to do when the Master, the Lord, is no longer with us? Where are we going to find strength? Where are we going to find assistance and security? Confronted by the announcement of Jesus’ departure, his disciples felt a great emptiness, uncertainty and fear. That’s why they couldn’t understand it when he told them that he was going to have to die.

How many times have we also felt this in our lives?  The departure of someone who is important in our lives produces a hole, a vacuum. How much more difficult would the departure have been for the disciples! The one who he had called to follow him, who had performed so many marvels, who taught with such authority, who is said to be the one sent by God. Did he have to die?

When we realize the difficulty in confronting the problems and the different situations life delivers us at work, in the neighborhood, and in our family… that our strength and our energy are not as great as we had imagined, fear and anguish inundates us…as it does when we believe ourselves to be too small to confront such great problems. In general, the lack of perspective generates situations of anxiety that at times are very difficult to endure. Let us receive all the security and trust that emanates from this, Jesus’s promise. He will not leave us as orphans.

Prayer:  Lord, thanks I give to you for being with me at every moment and never forsaking me. Amen.

JUAN 14:15-26

Jesús dijo: No os dejaré huérfanos; volveré a vosotros.

¡Qué angustia! ¿Cómo vamos a seguir en el futuro? ¿Qué vamos a hacer cuando el Maestro, el Señor, ya no esté entre nosotros? ¿De dónde vamos a sacar fuerzas? ¿Dónde vamos a encontrar apoyo y seguridad? Ante el anuncio de la partida de Jesús, sus discípulos sintieron un gran vacío, inseguridad y miedo. Por eso no podían entenderlo cuando les decía que iba a tener que morir.

¿Cuántas veces no lo hemos sentido también en nuestras vidas? La partida de alguien que es importante en nuestras vidas nos produce un hueco, un vacío. ¡Cuánto más difícil habrá sido para los discípulos la partida de Jesús! Aquel que los había llamado a seguirlo, que había hecho tantas maravillas, que enseñaba con tanta autoridad, que decía ser el enviado de Dios. ¿Tenía que morir?

Cuando nos damos cuenta de que para afrontar los problemas y las diferentes situaciones que nos depara la vida: en el trabajo, en el barrio, en la familia... nuestras fuerzas y nuestra capacidad no son tantas como habíamos imaginado, nos inunda el miedo y la angustia. Así también, cuando constatamos que somos pocos para afrontar problemas tan grandes. La falta de perspectivas en general genera situaciones de angustia que a veces es muy difícil sobrellevar.  Recibamos toda la seguridad y confianza que emana de esta promesa de Jesús. Él no nos dejará huérfanos.

Oración:  Señor, gracias te doy por estar conmigo en todo momento y no desampararme jamás. Amén.
