WITH TRUE FAITH

1 JOHN 5:6-12

We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. (NIV)

Much of what history tells us about the life and acts of Jesus is for us a faithful testimony of God. However, there is something that more effectively confirms it and encourages us to undertake with confidence the way we are to walk. It is the faith that God himself gives to us. Haven’t you ever felt like you wished you had the faith of somebody or other, or perhaps the same faith you used to have?

On this matter, there is a secret God teaches to his sons and daughters: when God gave us this precious gift of faith, he let us know that this is not something to be filed in a corner of our mind and heart, but something to be put into practice and shared. As we are nourished by the Word of God, read and heard in church or at home, faith increases and is strengthened. Otherwise, it becomes weaker and unproductive. It doesn’t matter that I have only a little faith, it’s a question of channeling it properly, whatever my age, my position, my past, or my current circumstances.

In this way, we can be increasingly certain that God himself accompanies and guides us. He not only pardons our occasional lapses, but transforms them when we are on the shared path, giving and receiving blessings of the Father.

Prayer: God of goodness, help us to channel the faith that you gave us in a manner that will serve your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Aceptamos el testimonio de los hombres, pero el testimonio de Dios es de mucho más valor, porque consiste en el testimonio

que Dios ha dado acerca de su Hijo.

1 Juan 5:9

Mucho de lo que nos cuenta la historia sobre la vida y hechos de Jesús es para nosotros un fiel testimonio de Dios. No obstante, hay algo que nos lo confirma mucho más fehacientemente y nos anima a emprender con confianza el camino que nos toca andar. Es la fe que Dios mismo nos da. ¿No les ha pasado que a veces quisieran tener la fe de fulano o mengano, o quizás la misma fe que tenían ustedes tiempo atrás?

Al respecto hay un secreto que Dios enseña a sus hijos e hijas: al darnos este hermoso don de la fe, nos da a entender que no es algo para archivar en un rincón de nuestra mente y corazón, sino para ponerlo en práctica y compartirlo. A medida que nos alimentamos con la Palabra de Dios, leída y oída en el templo o en la casa, la fe aumenta y se fortalece. De lo contrario, se debilita y se torna improductiva. No importa si tengo poca fe, es cuestión de encauzarla, sea cual fuera nuestra edad, nuestra situación, nuestro pasado y nuestra circunstancia actual.

De este modo, crecerá la certeza de que Dios mismo nos acompaña y nos guía. Él no sólo perdona nuestras eventuales torpezas, sino que las va transformando positivamente mientras vamos por el camino compartiendo, dando y recibiendo las bendiciones del Padre.

Oración: Dios de bondad, ayúdanos a encauzar la fe que nos diste en aquello que sea tu voluntad. Por Jesús, amén.
