TAKE YOUR TIME TO
LIVE
MATTHEW 6:25-34
But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness,
and all these things
will be given unto you as well. (NIV)
Matthew 6:33
She had spent the
entire day in a store with her mother. She was a child, barely six years old.
When they were preparing to leave, it was pouring rain. We all stood at the
store entrance, shielded from the rain. We waited, some with patience and
others irritated because nature was spoiling their daily routine.
I’ve always loved the
rain. I lose myself watching the heavens, the rain sweeping away the dirtiness
and dust of this world. The sweet voice of this child interrupted my thoughts
with this innocent phrase: “Mama, let’s run through the rain.”
“No, my love. Let’s wait
until it ends,” she answered patiently. The little girl waited a minute and
repeated, “Mama, let’s run through the rain.” Then the mother replied, “But if
we do, we will get soaked.” “No, Mama,” she said, “we won’t get wet. Wasn’t
that what you said this morning to Papa?” Such was the child’s reply while
clinging to her arm.
“This morning, when I
said we could run through the rain without getting wet?” she asked her. “Don’t
you remember?” the little girl replied, “when you were speaking to Papa about
his cancer you said to him that if God gets us through this, He can get us
through anything,” Everyone remained in absolute silence; I swear nothing was
heard but the rain. The mother stopped to think for a moment, to consider how
she should respond. This was a crucial moment in the life of this young child,
a moment in which innocence and trust could be instilled in a way that someday
an unshakable faith would flourish.
She said, “My love,
you’re completely right. Let’s run through the rain; and if God allows us to
get soaked, it could be that He knows we need a little washing.” And they ran out
into the rain.
Everyone stood
watching, laughing as they ran through the puddles. Of course, they got wet,
but they weren’t the only ones. A few others followed, laughing like children
running under the rain.
Yes, it’s true, I ran
outside too; and yes, I got wet. Surely God thought I needed a bit of washing.
Take your time to run
through the rain now and then. And do not forget: at times God likes it if you
give yourself a bit of a “soaking.” But He will never leave you; and if He allows
you to pass through storms in your life, they too will pass, and then others,
and what comes next… After each of these you will see his love anew in every rainbow.
Prayer: My father, today I ask you that you bathe me
abundantly in your rain of blessings. Accompany me and do not forsake me. Amen.

TÓMATE TU TIEMPO
PARA VIVIR
MATEO 6:25-34
lluvia". "No, mi amor... Esperemos a que cese", contestó la mamá
pacientemente…
"Amor,
tienes toda la razón. Corramos a través
Acompáñame y no me
desampares. Amén.
