REACH AN AGREEMENT
MATTHEW 5:21-25
Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask,
it will be done for you by my Father in heaven (NRSV)
Matthew 18:19
Members of a sports team who don’t agree on strategy never gain competence. In the same way, spouses who don’t agree when they make decisions don’t have a successful marriage. Working together requires a coordinated strength.

Reaching an agreement, however, is a process. Each person has thoughts and feelings about the situation, and our thoughts and feelings don’t always agree. We must listen, learn and compromise to come to an agreement. Reaching an agreement requires that each person involved states his point of view and then considers the areas in common.

Often, in doing this we don’t totally agree with other people’s points of view, but we make concessions and combine our ideas. In this process love is very important. Without a spirit of love that seeks the good of others, it’s likely that we’ll never reach agreement.

In the here and now, we know that the divorce rate is very high. Many couples don’t manage to arrive at consensus or make decisions motivated by love; instead, personal interest and lack of compromise are primary causes for the failure of the partnership project.

We must ask God for wisdom to strengthen our relationships on the foundation of his love.

Prayer:  Lord, I pray that you will teach me to seek the best for my partner in a spirit of love and to commit myself in a positive and healthful manner. Show me the direction in which we can walk together as a marriage partnership.

LLEGAR A UN ACUERDO
MATEO 5:21-25

Nuestros pensamientos y sentimientos no siempre coinciden.
