HOPEFULLY!

DEUTERONOMY 5:23-33

Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me

and keep all my commandments always,

so that it might go well with them and their children forever!   (NIV)

Deuteronomy 5:29

Once again God appears personified with human desires that emphasize his divine words. Hopefully! Says God, like when we say it ourselves to “push” our faith, our hope, and the effort behind that which we hope is fulfilled.

The Hopefully of God rings of the generous and merciful shedding of his blessings on a people he loves, but also a people who need make a great effort toward, so as not to disappoint him who has entrusted them with all things.

God’s Hopefully doesn’t sound even minimally of recrimination or burden, rather of the profound desire that his beloved people and humanity may fare well. There is no burden in fulfilling and obeying God; only hope abounds in a good and blessed life.

Hopefully we may be perseverant in loving and obeying God, and hopefully we may love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Hopefully we will not bring upon our lives and those of others sad and evil days because of our sin, even those sins which are unconscious or committed because of our ignorance.

Hopefully God can see today that we have a good and happy life, even, and in spite of the suffering and the struggles with which we are given to live with ourselves or with our brothers and sisters.

Prayer: beloved Father, let us, this day and with your help, be able to live a life according to your will.

DEUTERONOMIO 5:23-33

¡Ojalá piensen siempre de la misma manera, y me honren y cumplan mis mandamientos todos los días, para que tanto ellos

como sus hijos tengan siempre una vida dichosa!

Deuteronomio 5:29

Una vez más Dios aparece personificado con deseos humanos que refuerzan sus palabras divinas. ¡Ojalá!  dice Dios, como cuando lo decimos nosotros para “empujar” nuestra fe, nuestra esperanza y el esfuerzo detrás de aquello que esperamos se cumpla.

El ojalá de Dios suena a desprendimiento generoso y misericordioso de sus bendiciones a un pueblo que ama pero que deberá hacer un gran esfuerzo para no defraudar a quien le confió todas las cosas.

El ojalá de Dios no suena ni mínimamente a recriminación o carga, sino al deseo profundo de que su querido pueblo, la humanidad, le vaya bien. No hay peso en cumplir y obedecer a Dios, solo abunda esperanza en una vida buena y dichosa.

¡Ojalá! seamos perseverantes en amar y obedecer a Dios, y ojalá también amemos a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Ojalá no traigamos sobre nuestras vidas y la de los demás días tristes y malos por causa de nuestro pecado, aun el inconsciente o cometido por nuestra ignorancia. Ojalá Dios pueda ver en este día que tenemos una vida buena y alegre, aun y a pesar de los sufrimientos y las luchas con las que nos toque vivir en nosotros o con los hermanos y hermanas.

Oración: Padre amado, permítenos en este día y con tu ayuda poder vivir una vida según tu voluntad. Amén.
