WE ARE DRIVEN BY OUR FAITH

HEBREWS 11:1-7

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for

and assurance about what we do not see. (NIV)

It’s a reality that in the life of the church, in all its areas, we have different types of experiences and different results. There are things that do not work out very well, and others, yes, that do. There are activities, tasks, and projects in which we invest great effort, work and time, and afterwards things don’t happen as we had expected. Many times, in the face of supposed failures I asked myself, “Why do I keep doing this? What is it that motivates me to continue?” Perhaps you have also asked yourself these questions.

In some sense, the author of the letter to the Hebrews responds in the verse of today’s meditation.

When it’s faith that mobilizes us to act, seeking good, justice, equity and peace, it’s through that faith that we anticipate our time and context, that which we hope may be completed in the future. Christians await the fullness of the Kingdom of God; and by that which we carry out – driven by our faith – we anticipate that kingdom of God in our lives. Therefore, returning to our initial considerations, that which mobilizes us to continue, to keep fighting, to keep investing our time, work and effort in the life of the church, are not only our ideals and convictions, but also the certainty of the anticipation of that which we await. It’s precisely this that animates us, mobilizes us and moves us forward.

Prayer:  Thank you Lord for the faith we have in you. May this same faith drive us to continue in your journey of truth and love. Amen.

SOMOS IMPULSADOS POR NUESTRA FE

HEBREOS 11:1-7

Tener fe es tener la plena seguridad de recibir lo que se espera, es estar convencidos de la realidad de cosas que no vemos.

Hebreos 11:1

Es una realidad que, en la vida de la iglesia, en todos sus ámbitos, tenemos diferentes tipos de experiencias y también diferentes resultados. Hay cosas que no nos salen muy bien y otras que sí. Hay actividades, tareas y proyectos en los cuales invertimos mucho esfuerzo, trabajo y tiempo; y después las cosas no resultan como esperábamos. Muchas veces frente a los supuestos fracasos me pregunto a mí misma: “¿Por qué sigo con esto?” “¿Qué es lo que me motiva a continuar?” Quizás ustedes se han hecho también estas preguntas.

El autor de la carta a los hebreos de alguna manera nos responde con el versículo de la meditación de hoy.

Cuando es la fe la que nos moviliza a actuar, buscando el bien, la justicia, la equidad y la paz, es a través de ella que anticipamos a nuestro tiempo y contexto aquello que esperamos se complete en el futuro. Los cristianos esperamos la plenitud del Reino de Dios. A través de aquello que realizamos, impulsados por nuestra fe, anticipamos ese Reino de Dios a nuestras vidas. Por lo tanto, volviendo a nuestros cuestionamientos iniciales, aquello que nos moviliza a continuar, a seguir luchando, a seguir poniendo de nuestro tiempo, trabajo y esfuerzo en la vida de la iglesia, no son solamente nuestros ideales y convicciones, sino también la certeza del anticipo de aquello que esperamos. Es esto lo que nos anima, nos moviliza y nos mueve hacia adelante.

Oración: Gracias Señor, por la fe que tenemos en ti. Permite que esta misma fe nos impulse a seguir en tu camino de verdad y amor. Amén.
