HOMAGE
GALATIANS 5
“A little yeast works
through the whole batch of dough.”
Galatians 5:9 (NIV)
“I have faith in human
betterment, in the future life, in the value of virtue, and in you.” These
tender yet profound words were written by José Martí to his son José Ismael. It
was in the year 1881, when Martí’s life was a volcano of breathless struggle
for the cause of Cuban independence. How many worries he had!
Often comments have
been written about Martí and religion. Presbyterian Pastor Rafael Cepeda wrote a great deal about
the independence leader.
Many of us ask
ourselves if he was a believer. In Martí there is an approach and thought about
being human and life. It is reflected constantly as clarifying wisdom,
recognition of human evil, but the definitive triumph of good, as suggested in
today’s Biblical text.
Prayer: Thank you, merciful
God, for all the teachings we find in your Word. May it be a light to guide us
through life’s storms. Amen.

Un poco
de levadura leuda toda la masa
Gálatas
5:9
“Tengo fe en el
mejoramiento humano, en la vida futura, en la utilidad de la virtud, y en ti”.
Son estas palabras que, con singular ternura y entrañable profundidad humana,
escribió José Martí a su hijo José Ismael. Fue por el año 1881, entonces su
vida era un volcán en el bregar jadeante por la lucha de la libertad cubana.
¡Cuántos sinsabores!
Con frecuencia
algo se escribe sobre Martí y la religión. El PP Rafael Cepeda escribió mucho
sobre el apóstol.
Muchos nos
preguntamos si era creyente. En Martí hay un enfoque y pensamiento sobre el ser
humano y la vida. Aflora como una constante de esclarecedora sabiduría, el
reconocimiento de la maldad humana, pero el triunfo definitivo del bien, como
sugiere el texto bíblico de hoy.
Oración:
Gracias Dios misericordioso, por tantas enseñanzas que encontramos en tu
Palabra. Permite que ella sea una luz que nos guíe en medio de las tormentas de
la vida. Amén.
