THE GENIUS OF ANTS
PROVERBS 6:6-11
...Go to the ant you
sluggard,
and consider its ways and be wise. (NIV)
Proverbs 6:6
A while back I set
about observing in detail the life of ants, and I confess that I was surprised
to see them work with such order and effort. But one ant attracted my
attention. Black, and of medium size, the ant carried as a burden a straw that
was six times longer than itself. After advancing nearly a meter with said
burden it came to a kind of narrow but deep crack formed between two large
stones. It tried to cross in one way and then another, but all its efforts were
in vain, until finally it did the unexpected. With all its resourcefulness it
supported the ends of the straw on one side then the other of the crack, and
thus it constructed its own bridge, over which he could cross the abyss. On
reaching the other side, it again took hold of its burden and continued its
dedicated trip without inconveniences. The ant knew how to convert its burden
into a bridge and thus could continue its trip. By not having had that burden,
as heavy as it was for it, it wouldn’t have been able to advance in its journey.
How many times do we
complain about the problems, the burdens and the tests that we need to bear!
But without our realizing it, these same burdens can become bridges and steps
that help us to succeed.
May God give us the
vision to see in each problem an opportunity to do well for others and for our
own personal growth.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for your company in each
moment. May daily fatigue not tarnish my ability to see you as the sustainer of
my life. Amen.

INGENIO DE LAS HORMIGAS
PROVERBIOS

a las hormigas; fíjate en sus caminos, y ponte a pensar.

Hace
un tiempo me puse a observar detenidamente la vida de las hormigas y confieso
que quedé asombrado al verlas trabajar con tanto orden y empeño.
Pero
una hormiga en particular atrajo mi atención. Negra y de tamaño mediano, la
hormiga llevaba como carga una pajita que era seis veces más larga que ella
misma. Después de avanzar casi un metro con semejante carga, llegó a una especie
de grieta estrecha pero profunda, formada entre dos grandes piedras. Probó
cruzar de una manera y de otra, pero todo su esfuerzo fue en vano. Hasta que
por fin la hormiguita hizo lo insólito. Con toda habilidad apoyó los extremos
de la pajita en un borde y otro de la grieta, y así se construyó su propio
puente, sobre el cual pudo atravesar el abismo. Al llegar al otro lado, tomó
nuevamente su carga y continuó su esforzado viaje sin inconvenientes. La
hormiga supo convertir su carga en un puente y así pudo continuar su viaje. De
no haber tenido esa carga, que bien pesada era para ella, no habría podido
avanzar su camino.
¡Cuántas
veces nos quejamos por los problemas, las cargas y las pruebas que debemos
soportar! Pero sin darnos cuenta, esas mismas cargas pueden convertirse en
puentes y peldaños que nos ayudan a triunfar. Ojalá Dios nos dé la visión para
ver en cada problema una oportunidad de hacer el bien a los demás, y de
crecernos nosotros mismos.
Oración:
Gracias Señor, por tu compañía en cada momento. No
permitas que la fatiga diaria empañe mi capacidad de verte como sostén de mi
vida. Amén.
