LOVE IN THE MIDST OF INTERRUPTIONS

LUKE 8:40-56

While he was still speaking, someone came from the leader's house to say,

"Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer."

Luke 8:49 (NRSV)

Interruptions were constantly happening in Jesus’ life. Everybody wanted a bit of time with him. They wanted to be the center of his attention, even if only for a few seconds. People heard his words and were witness to his miracles, and they wanted what he had to offer.

In defense of these folk we have to say that they had no way to know that they were interrupting the most important work in the history of humanity. They had no way to know because Jesus gave them no clue. When Jairus interrupted Jesus’ journey to ask that he come to his house and heal his daughter, Jesus went. When a desperate woman interrupted his trip to Jairus’ house, Jesus stopped and talked with her.

Jesus allowed the interruptions because he didn’t see them as such. He saw the needs that drew people. He understood people’s motives when they wanted to talk with him. He didn’t allow himself to get angry or upset; rather, he was willing to lay aside his own agenda to respond to their needs.

What kind of impact could we have on the people around us if we were to follow his example?

Prayer: Lord, I want to be aware of your plans for my life in such a way that I may treat interruptions as opportunities to love those around me. Amen.

EL AMOR EN LAS INTERRUPCIONES

LUCAS 8:40-56

Estaba hablando aun, cuando vino uno de casa del principal de la sinagoga a decirle: “Tu hija ha muerto;

no molestes más al Maestro”

Lucas 8:49

Las interrupciones fueron un acontecimiento constante en la vida de Jesús. Todos solicitaban un momento de su tiempo. Querían ser el centro de su atención, aunque fuera por unos segundos. Las personas escucharon sus palabras y fueron testigos de sus milagros y querían lo que Él ofrecía.

En defensa de estas personas podemos decir que ellos no tenían manera de saber que estaban interrumpiendo el trabajo más importante de la historia de la humanidad. No tenían forma de saberlo porque Jesús no les dio ningún indicio. Cuando Jairo interrumpió el viaje de Jesús para rogarle que fuera a su casa y sanara a su hija, Jesús fue. Cuando una mujer desesperada interrumpió su viaje a la casa de Jairo, Jesús se detuvo y habló con ella. Jesús permitió las interrupciones porque no las vio como tal. Él vio las necesidades que atraían a la gente. Él entendía las razones de las personas cuando querían hablar con Él.  No se permitió enojarse ni molestarse; en cambio, estuvo dispuesto a dejar a un lado su propia agenda para satisfacer las necesidades de ellos.

¿Qué tipo de impacto podríamos tener sobre la gente que nos rodea si siguiéramos su ejemplo?

Oración: Señor, quiero ser consciente de tus propósitos para mi vida, de tal modo que trate las interrupciones como oportunidades para amar a los demás. Amén.
