YOUR HEART’S DESIRE

PSALM 37:3-6

Take delight in the Lord,

and he will give you the desires of your heart. (NIV)

Psalm 37:4

It’s easy to consider this verse and think: “If I delight in the Lord he will give me everything I want.” Nevertheless, when we truly begin to delight in the Lord, God changes our hearts in a way so complete that we only want what he wants. When you entrust all the things that you do to the Lord you will begin to see how your desires align with those of God.

How does one apply this to daily life? Begin your morning with thankfulness. Ask God to bless your life and give you opportunities to be a blessing for those who cross your path that day. Interact with God about every one of the questions and problems you may confront. Give him thanks for the great and small blessings that come your way. Seek his will and his guidance when you’re making plans. Pray for your loved ones who do not know Christ. Intercede for friends and neighbors who need divine help. Call out for his justice in the world and be an instrument of his justice where you live. Actively participate in the daily construction of his kingdom. Finally, stay attentive to new forms of delighting in the Lord.

Prayer: Lord. I hand over to you my whole heart and all my plans and ideas. I seek your will in my life. Thank you for your blessings and your great love for me. Show me how to delight in you. Amen.

EL DESEO DE TU CORAZÓN

Salmo 37:3-6

Deléitate en el Señor, y él te concederá

los deseos de tu corazón.

Salmo 37:4

Resulta fácil considerar este versículo y pensar: “Si me deleito en el Señor, me dará todo lo que yo quiera”. Sin embargo, cuando empezamos a deleitarnos de verdad en el Señor, Dios cambia nuestro corazón de una forma tan completa, que solo queremos lo que Él quiere. Cuando encomiendes todas las cosas que hagas al Señor, empezarás a ver cómo se alinean tus deseos con los de Dios.

¿Cómo se aplica esto a la vida cotidiana? Empieza tu mañana con agradecimiento. Pídele a Dios que bendiga tu vida y que te proporcione oportunidades para ser una bendición para los que se crucen contigo ese día. Interactúa con Dios sobre cada una de las cuestiones y problemas al que te enfrentes. Dale las gracias por las bendiciones, grandes y pequeñas, que te lleguen. Busca su voluntad y su guía cuando estés haciendo planes. Ora por tus seres queridos que no conocen a Cristo. Intercede por amigos y vecinos que necesiten la ayuda divina. Clama por su justicia en el mundo y sé tu un instrumento de su justicia y su paz a tu alrededor. Participa activamente en la construcción cotidiana de su reino. En fin, mantente atento a las nuevas formas de deleitarte en el Señor.

Oración: Señor, te encomiendo todo mi corazón y todos mis planes e ideas. Quiero tu voluntad en mi vida. Gracias por tus bendiciones y tu gran amor por mí. Muéstrame cómo deleitarme en ti, Señor. Amén.
