HAVE YOU GIVEN THANKS TO SOMEONE TODAY?

1 CORINTHIANS 16:13-20

For they refreshed my spirit and yours also.

Such men deserve recognition. (NIV)

Have you given thanks to your pastor, for your friendships or family members who have encouraged or helped you just when you needed it? Paul wrote to the church in Corinth explaining how Stephanus and his family were the first converts in Achaia, and how they had dedicated themselves to serving others. He reminded them that when Stephanus, Fortunatus, and Achaicus arrived in Corinth they supplied all the necessities of the people and had been of great encouragement, as they were to you.

When true believers serve, they do it from their hearts and not for the internal desire to receive praise. It’s what Stephanus did, although Paul urged the church to show appreciation for the servant of God and for what he did for them.

Do you sometimes feel taken advantage of? Do you work and receive little or no recognition? As God’s servants we work because we love Christ; even so, an occasional display of thankfulness is something that is always, always appreciated. It’s what Paul communicated.

Paul’s suggestion continues to be in force today. Give thanks to someone who has refreshed your spirit. It will encourage them and you to persevere in the path of life.

Prayer: Lord encourage me to show my appreciation to those who have touched my life with your love and with your grace. Amen.

como lo fueron para ustedes. Muéstrenle agradecimiento

a todos los que sirven así de bien.

¿Le has dado las gracias a tu pastor o pastora, tus amistades o familiares que te han alentado o ayudado justo cuando lo necesitabas? Pablo escribió a la iglesia en Corinto, explicando cómo Estéfanas y su familia fueron los primeros conversos en Acaya y cómo se habían dedicado a servir a los demás. Les recordó que cuando Estéfanas, Fortunato y Acaico llegaron a Corinto, ellos suplieron todas las necesidades de las personas y ...han sido de mucho aliento... como lo fueron para ustedes…

Cuando los verdaderos creyentes sirven, lo hacen de corazón y no por el deseo interno de recibir elogios. Es lo que Estéfanas hizo, aunque Pablo instó a la iglesia a que mostrara aprecio por el siervo de Dios y por lo que hizo por ellos.

¿Sientes alguna vez que se aprovechan de ti? ¿Trabajas y recibes poco o ningún reconocimiento? Como siervos de Dios, trabajamos porque amamos a Cristo; con todo, una muestra ocasional de agradecimiento es algo que siempre, siempre se aprecia. Es lo que Pablo comunicó.

La sugerencia de Pablo sigue estando en vigor hoy. Dale las gracias a alguien que haya refrescado tu espíritu. Les alentará a ellos y a ti a perseverar en la senda de la vida.

Oración: Señor, aliéntame a mostrar mi aprecio a aquellos que han tocado mi vida con tu amor y con tu gracia. Amén.
