WHEN
WE SEPARATE OURSELVES

CHRONICLES 20:20
Remember,
O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully
and
with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.
2 Kings 20: 3
NIV
Imagine yourself relaxed on a boat a short distance from the beach, with
closed eyes, left to be blown by the wind.
Until you open your eyes.
Suddenly, the shoreline is alarmingly far away. This is how we tend to
separate ourselves spiritually. It is
something that happens in a subtle way, but it is horrifying when suddenly we
realize how far we have drifted away from God.
There are many attitudes that can send us adrift: believing that we need something more than
God to be happy; putting other interests above our loyalty to God; thinking
that God should meet our expectations; resisting God’s reproaches.
If you are beginning to separate yourself, remember to stay anchored to
God, the rock of salvation.
Prayer:
Lord, always allow us to be alert and close to you,
faithful and firm in the faith. Forgive us when we separate ourselves from your
communion, when we come up with thousands of excuses to not find ourselves with
you. Amen.

Yo te suplico, Señor, que te acuerdes
de cómo te he servido
fiel y sinceramente, haciendo lo que
te agrada.
2 Reyes 20: 3
Imagínate
relajado sobre un bote a poca distancia de la playa, con los ojos cerrados,
dejándonos llevar por el viento. ¡hasta que abres los ojos! De repente, la
orilla está alarmantemente lejos. Así es
como tendemos a alejarnos espiritualmente. Es algo que sucede de manera sutil,
pero es espeluznante cuando de repente nos damos cuenta cuánto nos hemos
alejado de Dios.
Hay muchas actitudes
que nos pueden poner a la deriva: creer que necesitamos algo más que a Dios
para ser felices; colocar otros intereses por encima de nuestra lealtad a Dios;
pensar que Dios debe estar a la altura de nuestras expectativas; resistir sus
reprobaciones.
Si estás
comenzando a alejarte, acuérdate de mantenerte anclado a Dios, roca de
salvación.
Oración: Señor permítenos estar
alertas y cercanos a ti en todo momento, fieles y firmes en la fe. Perdónanos
cuando nos alejamos de tu comunión, cuando interponemos miles de excusas para
no encontrarnos contigo. Amén
