The Day Marking Struggle against AIDS

COMPREHENSIVE MEASURES

JOHN 15:1-17

I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you,

 and that your joy may be complete.

John 15:11 (NRSV)

The measures of the Lord are complete and generous. Don’t look for leftovers around Him. If you have accepted him, you may sit at his table. The secret that today is a day of joy fulfilled for you is that you talk to Him, and that He can speak with you. I have said these things to you with a purpose. That purpose of the Lord, being fulfilled in your life, is what will make you live in the Lord in complete and fulfilled Christian joy.

One of the hymns we sing says: There is great joy in my soul today because Jesus is with me. His presence is the source of your joy, of your happiness. To be with Jesus, talk with Him and listen to his voice every day is the source of daily joy.

The Lord offers compensations which are not equaled by what the world offers. It isn’t the same kind of joy that the Lord calls my joy as those others’ joys, even legitimate ones that the world offers. This is a special state of communion with the Lord which doesn’t necessarily have to be at odds with all of life’s manifestations. It is something like being able to fully enjoy the same things that we only enjoy to the extent that we cannot talk about them and share them with the Lord. Today hear His voice and you will have His joy fulfilled in you.

Prayer: Allow me, O God, to have such a close communion with you today that I can continuously hear your voice and have your joy fulfilled in me. Amen.

Las medidas del Señor son completas y generosas. No busques sobrantes en derredor de Él. Si le has aceptado, puedes sentarte a su mesa. El secreto de que hoy sea un día de gozo cumplido para ti está en que hables con Él, y que Él pueda hablar contigo. Estas cosas os he hablado con un propósito. Ese propósito del Señor, cumpliéndose en tu vida, es lo que te hará vivir en gozo cristiano cumplido y completo en el Señor.

Uno de los himnos que cantamos dice: Grande gozo hay en mi alma hoy, pues Jesús conmigo está. Su presencia es la fuente de tu gozo, de tu felicidad. Estar con Jesús, hablar con Él y escuchar su voz cada día; esa es la fuente de gozo para cada día. Las compensaciones que el Señor ofrece no son iguales a las que el mundo ofrece. No es la misma clase de gozo lo que el Señor llama mi gozo y aquellos otros, aun los legítimos, goces que el mundo y sus triunfos pueden ofrecer. Este es un estado especial de comunión con el Señor, que no tiene necesariamente que estar reñido con la vida en todas sus manifestaciones. Es algo así como poder disfrutar a plenitud las mismas cosas que solo disfrutamos a medidas cuando no podemos hablarlas y compartirlas con el Señor. Hoy oye su voz y tendrás su gozo cumplido en ti.

Oración: Permíteme oh Dios, tener tan estrecha comunión contigo en el día de hoy. Que pueda contantemente escuchar tu voz y tener tu gozo cumplido en mí. Amén.
