WE’RE NOT PERFECT!
1 CORINTHIANS 12
If one part suffers, every part suffers with
it;
if one part is honored, every part rejoices
with it. (NIV)
I Corinthians 12: 26
If it’s quite clear that many times we aren’t open to criticism, it’s
also clear that, for the most part, we seal off our disabilities and incompetence
with a justification that has already become popularized: great, no one’s
perfect! And by so doing we minimize our disability, leaving the way open to
error again. Certainly, we aren’t perfect, but we can struggle to realize when
we are sufficiently able, or when we’re not prepared to assume duties, or
simply to permit others to help us, since we have no reason to know everything.
In other cases, our abilities keep declining, and it costs us to give
space to those who come, perhaps not with so much understanding, but yes, with enough
willpower to be able to learn and begin. To be nearly perfect one needs the
humility enough to recognize that we are unable to master and possess
everything, clarity to ask for help, and to receive it and know how to
reciprocate it.
The church needs these virtues to achieve true unity. Beginning with you!
Prayer: Lord
help us to recognize our limitations in such a way that, instead of dividing
and subtracting, we can recognize the virtues of others. Amen.

¡NO SOMOS PERFECTOS!
1 CORINTIOS 12

Si bien es cierto que muchas veces no estamos
abiertos a las críticas, también es cierto que la mayoría de las veces sellamos
nuestras incapacidades o incompetencias con una justificación que ya se ha
hecho popular: Bueno, ¡Nadie es perfecto!, y de esta manera minimizamos nuestra
incapacidad, dejando el camino libre para volver a errar. Ciertamente, no somos perfectos, pero bien
podemos luchar para darnos cuenta cuando no somos lo suficientemente capaces, o
no estamos preparados para asumir tareas, o simplemente, permitirnos que otros
nos ayuden, pues tampoco tenemos por qué saberlo todo. En otros casos nuestras
habilidades se van deteriorando y nos cuesta dar espacio a los que llegan,
quizá no con tanto conocimiento, pero sí con suficiente voluntad para poder
aprender y emprender.
Para ser casi perfectos, se necesita humildad, la
suficiente para reconocernos incapaces de dominarlo todo y poseerlo todo;
sencillez para pedir ayuda, recibirla y saberla reciprocar.
La Iglesia necesita de estas virtudes para lograr la
verdadera unidad. ¡Comiénzalo en ti!
Oración: Señor,
ayúdanos a reconocer nuestras limitaciones, de tal manera que, en lugar de
dividir y restar, podamos reconocer las virtudes de los demás. Amén.
