New Year’s Day

HAPPY NEW YEAR
JOHN 17 :1-7
And this is eternal life, that they may know you,
the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
John 17:3 (NRSV)
In ending an old year and beginning a new one, best wishes go and come among family members, friends, neighbors, and at work. In every place we hear expressions like this: Happy New Year, and above all health, which is the main thing!  Yes, but what will be written on that great blank page which the new year brings? What will it bring us? What will it take from us? No one knows in advance what is in store. What do you wish for? Health, for certain! But, is that what is essential?
Everyone has hopes and plans, but we’re not even sure of tomorrow. Who will answer my questions? What will effectively direct my life: chance or meticulous control of my activities and my health? That would be to forget that there are many circumstances that I do not know. Our health is so fragile that it could depend on the soundness of a small cerebral vein, just a little thicker than a hair.
If I care about what is essential, I can’t settle for betting on the future, convinced that all will come out well. Only a real relationship with God based on trust can illuminate our lives. To know Jesus as Savior is to receive eternal life, is to enter a true relationship with God, the hope and sure guide of our lives. It is a relationship that invites us to share the good news with concrete acts of service and love of neighbor. Our hope for you today is that you experience the true happiness that Christ offers and be able to share it with those around you all year long.

Prayer: Lord, in this year that begins today, I want to ask for your wisdom and strength, spiritual peace, and your eternal companionship. Amen.

Año Nuevo

FELIZ AÑO
JUAN 17 :1-7
Dios verdadero, y a Jesucristo, a quien has enviado
Juan 17:3

¿Quién responderá a mis preguntas?
