Anniversary of the “Edward A. Odell” Church (Camajuaní)

       MOVE ON!

       EXODUS 14:1-18

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me?

Tell the Israelites to move on.”

Exodus 14:15 (NIV)

The people of Israel were in a huge quandary: in front of them lay the Red Sea and behind them was Pharaoh’s formidable army ready to take them back to Egypt regardless of the consequences. The people were worried and fearful. As we always say, fear can paralyze us if not handled properly. But neither the Red Sea nor Pharaoh was the main problem of the nation being formed. Its main problem was the lack of faith, not believing in the God that brought them out of Egypt and promised them a better life.

Today when we read this text, we say “what little faith this nation had.” In this way, we attack them by judging them and forget that in the Bible there are many incidents that work as a mirror for our life and relationship with God.

Today we have many “Israelites” in our communities who are reluctant to move ahead and trust in the God who helps us get out of our Egypt every day.

Prayer: Loving God, give us strength to trust in you and to move on. Amen.

      ¡SEGUIR ADELANTE!

       EXODO 14:1-18

Pero Dios le dijo a Moisés: ¿Y tú por qué me pides ayuda? ¡Mejor ordena a los israelitas seguir adelante!

Éxodo 14:15

El pueblo de Israel se encontraba en una gran encrucijada: tenía enfrente el mar Rojo y a sus espaldas el temible ejército del Faraón dispuesto a regresarlos sin importar las consecuencias. El pueblo estaba preocupado, tenía miedo. Como siempre decimos, el miedo paraliza, si no se maneja adecuadamente. Pero ni el Faraón, ni el mar Rojo son los principales problemas de esta nación en formación. Su principal problema es la falta de fe, es no creer en el Dios que los sacó de Egipto que les prometió una vida mejor.

En el mundo de hoy cuando leemos este texto decimos “que poca fe tenía ese pueblo”. De esta manera, arremetemos contra ellos juzgándolos y se nos olvidan que la Biblia en muchas ocasiones funciona como un espejo donde vemos reflejadas nuestra vida y nuestra relación con Dios.

Hoy tenemos muchos Israelitas en nuestras comunidades a quienes les cuesta seguir adelante y confiar en el Dios que nos saca cada día de nuestro Egipto.

Oración: Dios de amor, te pedimos que nos des las fuerzas para confiar en ti y seguir adelante. Amen.
