ALWAYS JOY!
PHILIPPIANS 4: 4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
Philippians 4: 4-5
Happiness and joy are themes that are reiterated in the Epistle
to the Philippians. The apostle Paul exhorts us to a permanent and profound
joy. It is not a passing emotion; it is the quality of a life that has placed
its confidence in God, joy which endures through any and all circumstances no
matter how difficult or sad they may be. That doesn’t seem possible.
In Psalm 16:11 we are shown how we can achieve this quality
of joy and contentment: You show me the path of life. In your presence there
is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Joy is
found in God; it is a grace we receive when we remain in communion with God. It
is not sustained by temporary events, but in relationship and trust, in its
goodness and righteousness. Being cheerful is always the proof that the Spirit
abides in us.
Our permanent joy is the best testimony of faith, trust and
security in our Savior. This state of joy makes us kind and stronger. It is the
sign that we have been transformed by life filled with Christ. This joy is
contagious. How do we attain this joy? Scripture tells us: Do not grieve for
anything but present everything to God in prayer; ask him and give thanks also.
We come to that joy through Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the
life.
Prayer: Thank you, good
God, for the grace of always being joyful. Do not let us lose that gift of yours
because of our worries, anxieties or temporary ambitions. Help us to keep in
prayer to attain it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

¡SIEMPRE ALEGRES!

Alégrense siempre en el
Señor. ¡Repito! ¡Alégrense!
que todos los conozcan
como personas bondadosas.
Filipenses 4: 4-5
La alegría y el gozo son
temas reiterados en la carta a los filipenses. El apóstol Pablo exhorta a la
alegría permanente y profunda. No es una emoción pasajera. Es la calidad de
vida del que ha puesto su confianza en Dios. Alegría que permanece bajo
cualquier circunstancia, por muy difícil o dolorosa que sea. No parece que esto
sea posible.
En el salmo 16:11 se nos
muestra cómo podemos alcanzar esa calidad de gozo o alegría. Me mostraste la
senda de la vida; en tu presencia hay plenitud de gozo; delicias a tu lado para
siempre.
El gozo se encuentra en
Dios, es una gracia que recibimos cuando permanecemos en comunión con Él. No se
sostiene por eventos temporales, sino en la relación y la confianza, en su
bondad y justicia. Estar alegres siempre es la prueba de que el Espíritu mora
en nosotros. Nuestra alegría permanente es el mejor testimonio de la fe, la
confianza y la seguridad en nuestro Salvador.
Ese estado de gozo nos
hará bondadosos, y más fuertes. Es el signo de que hemos sido transformados a
una vida plena en Cristo. Es alegría que
contagia. ¿Cómo lograr ese gozo? El verso seis nos lo dice: No se aflijan
por nada, sino preséntelo todo a Dios en oración; pídanle y denle gracias
también. Llegamos a ese gozo por
medio de Jesucristo, quien es el camino, la verdad y la vida.
Oración: Gracias, Dios bueno, por
la gracia de estar alegres siempre. No dejes que perdamos ese regalo tuyo por
nuestras preocupaciones, ansiedades y aspiraciones temporales. Ayúdanos a
mantenernos en oración para lograrlo. Por Jesús. Amén.
