LET’S GET UP AND BUILD TOGETHER

NEHEMIAH 6:1-2

The time is now; the Christian testimony at the same instant in which it makes an impact on the human soul. There’s not any excuse to postpone the radiant life that undoubtedly is the result of a new life with Jesus. It’s been months or years that you’ve walked in his company, and he’s the best of friends, as an unequaled comrade, and in each moment of the day it should produce a renovation of that beloved friendship, making it more intimate and loyal. How much it must scandalize the Spirit to point out stages or limits to give the Lord entrance to the heart or grant a vacation to the intensity of his presence! We stop praying, we abandon worship at church, and relegate the Bible to a corner of the house for better times or for when the ephemeral bustling about ends. The Lord remains outside a parenthesis that we fill with thoughts and deeds away from Him.   

The biblical text that underlies this meditation refers to the moment when Nehemiah noticed the collapse of Jerusalem’s walls and, convening the people, appealed for its immediate reconstruction. Let’s get up and build! Those who yearn to walk in the way of Christ must live in a “now” of spiritual intensity. Today is the day of salvation.     

Prayer:  Oh God, full of grace and mercy, accompany your people who implore your presence to walk in your ways. For Jesus’ sake, amen.

LEVANTÉMONOS Y EDIFIQUEMOS JUNTOS

NEHEMÍAS 6:1-2

…. Y dijeron: Levantémonos y edifiquemos

Nehemías 2:18

La hora es ahora. El testimonio cristiano en el mismo instante en que hace su impacto en el alma humana. No hay excusa alguna para posponer la vida radiante que, indudablemente, es el resultado de una nueva vida con Jesús. Hace meses o años que andas en su compañía y lo tienes como mejor el mejor amigo, como el sin par camarada y en cada minuto del día debe producirse una renovación de esa amistad querida, haciéndola más íntima y leal. ¡Cuánto debe escandalizar al Espíritu el señalar etapas y plazos para darle entrada al Señor en el corazón o concederle vacaciones a la intensidad de su presencia! Dejamos de orar, abandonamos el culto de la iglesia y olvidamos la Biblia en un rincón de la casa, para tiempos mejores o para cuando pase el vértigo de un trajinar efímero. El Señor queda fuera de un paréntesis que llenamos con pensamientos y hechos alejados de Él.

El texto bíblico que fundamenta esta meditación refiere el momento en que Nehemías se percató del derrumbe de los muros de Jerusalén y, convocado el pueblo, apeló por su reconstrucción inmediata. ¡Levantemos y edifiquemos! Los que anhelan transitar por los caminos de Cristo, deben vivir en un “ahora” de intensidad espiritual. Hoy es el día de salvación.

Oración: Oh Dios, lleno de gracia y misericordia, acompaña a tu pueblo que te implora tu compañía para transitar por tus caminos. Por Jesús, amén.
