WALKING WITH THE SHARED

EMBODIMENT OF CHRIST

LUKE  22:14-23

Let us then go to him outside the camp and bear the abuse he endured.

Hebrews 13:13 (NRSV)

            Walking with the eucharistic body of Christ, a body shared in communion and commitment, opens ways to us to give our bread to the hungry and break down the barriers of inequality. These are the true sacred expressions that all Christians are called to do together.

            It is good to focus on what unites us and not on what divides us today. Even though Jesus Christ at his “last supper” shared the food of Passover, emphasizing unity and prophetic sense, it continues to be a scandal that we are not able to share fully together the Sacrament of Communion as we ought. At the same time, it is encouraging that there are other actions that we perform ecumenically as true Christians, and which are signs of the deep communion between us and the world.

            What is important is that we have begun to live the new life where “It doesn't matter whether you’re Jew or gentile, whether circumcised or not, whether uneducated, uncivilized, slave or free,” because Christ lives in all of us.

Prayer: God of mercy, walk with us toward that day when we can share the same bread and cup at a common table. God of life lead us into unity, justice, and peace. Amen.

Salgamos al encuentro de Jesús, fuera del campamento

Hebreos 13:13

Caminar con el cuerpo eucarístico de Cristo, un cuerpo compartido en comunión y compromiso nos abre vías para dar nuestro pan al hambriento y derribar las barreras de la desigualdad. Estos son los verdaderos gestos sagrados que todos los cristianos y cristianas estamos llamados a hacer juntos.

Es bueno centrarnos en aquello que nos une y no en lo que hasta hoy nos divide. A pesar de que Jesucristo, en su “última cena” compartió los alimentos de la Pascua enfatizando la unidad y el sentido profético, sigue resultando un escándalo que no podamos compartir juntos plenamente el sacramento de la eucaristía como deberíamos. Al mismo tiempo es alentador que existan otras acciones que acometemos ecuménicamente, como verdaderos cristianos y que son signos de comunión profunda entre nosotros y al mundo.

Lo que interesa es que hayamos comenzado a vivir la vida nueva donde “no importa si uno es judío o gentil, si está o no circuncidado, si es inculto, incivilizado, esclavo o libre”, porque Cristo vive en todos nosotros.

Oración. Dios de misericordia, camina con nosotros hacia el día en que podamos compartir el único pan y cáliz en la mesa común. Dios de vida, condúcenos a la unidad, a la justicia y la paz. Amén.
