LET
US WORK IN THE NAME OF CHRIST
2
CORINTHIANS 8:7-12
I am
not commanding you,
but
I want to test the sincerity of your love
by
comparing it with the earnestness of others.

Corinthians 8:8
The
Corinthian Church had voluntarily proposed to take a collection to help the
Christians of Jerusalem. As Paul had planned a visit to Corinth, he recommended
that they have the offering ready by the time he arrived. Nevertheless, the
Christians there delayed their donation until counting on greater resources. It’s
for that reason that Paul assures them that if they contribute according to
what they have, the gift will be acceptable before God.
Put at
the Lord’s disposition, what we possess will be utilized by Him in a better way
than we can imagine. Our good will of doing for Christ when our resources
permit it is what God needs for the progress of his Kingdom.
On
working in the name of Christ to the extent our means permit, we not only
accrete what we have, but also collaborate so that God’s blessings descend upon
others.
Prayer: We pray to you, Lord, pleading that our lives
may be spiritually enriched when we make good use of that which we possess. Amen.

TRABAJEMOS EN EL NOMBRE DE CRISTO
2 CORINTIOS 8:7-12
No hablo como quien manda, sino para poner a prueba,
por medio de la diligencia de otros, también
la sinceridad del amor vuestro.
2 Corintios 8:8
La iglesia de Corinto se había propuesto voluntariamente reunir una colecta
para auxiliar a los cristianos de Jerusalén. Como Pablo había proyectado una
visita a Corinto, les recomendó tuviesen lista la ofrenda para cuando él
llegase. Sin embargo, los cristianos aplazaron su aportación hasta contar con
mayores recursos. Es por esto que Pablo les asegura que, si contribuyen
conforme a lo que tienen, el don será aceptado ante Dios.
Lo que poseemos, puesto a la disposición del Señor, podrá ser utilizado por Él en forma superior a lo
que nos imaginamos. Nuestra buena voluntad de hacer por Cristo cuanto nuestros
recursos lo permitan, es lo que Dios necesita para el progreso de su Reino.
Al trabajar en el nombre de Cristo hasta donde lo permiten nuestros medios,
no sólo acrecentamos lo que tenemos, sino que también colaboramos para que las
bendiciones de Dios desciendan sobre las demás.
Oración: Oramos a ti, Señor, suplicándote que
nuestras vidas se enriquezcan espiritualmente cuando hacemos un buen uso de lo
que poseemos. Amén.
