WE CANNOT ESCAPE AFFLICTION

JOHN 14:1-14

Don’t be troubled.  Trust in God.  Trust also in me.

John 14:1 (CEB)

In the world we have afflictions, worries, pains, anxieties. This is the reality that we cannot dodge.  Every day we face hardships and pains.

And we cannot flee this valley of tears because we are part of it.  We are aware that while the storms beat us in this world, there is no sure refuge or steadfast den.

Jesus, who lived as a human being in this same world that you and I live in, knew it well.  Because of this, because none of our human worries were alien to him, he offers us this:  He is routed to teach us all the art of Christian peaceful living in a world that is filled diabolically with living in war.  We have only to trust in Him, to put in his hands the reins of our hope, because He is the infallible guide.  Let us then put our will at his feet, because He is our eternal refuge, the rock of ages, because He has victory over this world that afflicts and torments us so.  We cannot escape affliction, but in Jesus we can find the strength to end up on top.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, you know how I suffer with the things of this world.  Teach me to trust in you, so that I can victoriously meet the afflictions.  In your name we pray, Amen.

NO PODEMOS ESCAPAR DE LA AFLICCIÓN

JUAN 14:1-14

No se turbe vuestro corazón;

creéis en Dios, creed también en mí

En el mundo tenemos aflicciones, angustias, dolores, ansiedades. Esta es una realidad que no podemos esquivar. Cada día debemos enfrentarnos a penurias y dolencias.

Y no podemos huir de este valle de lágrimas porque somos parte de él. Somos conscientes de que, para las tormentas que nos azotan en el mundo, no hay refugio seguro ni guarida firme.

Jesús, que vivió como ser humano en este mismo mundo en el cual tú y yo vivimos, lo sabía muy bien; y por eso, porque nada de las angustias humanas les fue ajena, se nos brinda: todo Él está encaminado a enseñarnos el arte de vivir cristianamente en paz en un mundo que se empeña diabólicamente en vivir en guerra. Solo tenemos que confiar en Él, poner en sus manos las riendas de nuestra esperanza, porque Él es nuestro guía infalible. Pongamos pues a sus pies nuestra voluntad, porque Él es nuestro refugio eterno, la roca de los siglos, porque Él ha vencido a este mundo que tanto nos aflige y atormenta. No podemos escapar de la aflicción, pero en Jesús encontramos las fuerzas para salir adelante.

Oración: Señor Jesucristo, tú sabes cuánto sufro por las cosas de este mundo. Enséñame a confiar en ti, para que yo pueda afrontar victoriosamente las aflicciones. En tu nombre oramos, amén.
