THE LORD LISTENS TO ALL WHO CALL ON HIM
PSALM 86: 1-7

Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
                                                                Psalm 86:1 (NRSV)
From the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez we know the expression, “A true friend is the one who takes our hand and touches our heart.” Thanks to our knowledge of Jesus Christ, we can experience God as our close friend. In a conversation with his disciples, Jesus said, “Who has seen me has seen the Father.” In his own person, he has shown us what God is like. Jesus took the hand of many needy people who clamored for mercy at his feet, attended to them, helped them, and thus touched their hearts. With this same love, Jesus, who is in God, listens when we call on him.
In John’s Gospel, Jesus prays to God that we all might be one, and he says to God, “The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one. . .” (17:22) With that assurance, we direct our prayers to God to forgive us and to change our lamentations into dancing.

Prayer: Lord, when we feel alone or sad, may our prayer be the perfect link by which we feel the greatness of your love and sense the assurance of your presence. Amen.

EL SEÑOR ESCUCHA A QUIENES LE INVOCAN
SALMO 86: 1-7

Señor, dígnate escucharme,
porque estoy muy triste y pobre…
                                                                Salmo 86:1
